Default Winch?

Just looking for some info here just for future reference. If I were to buy a winch, what sort of spec's would I need to get? 01 ram 1500 extended cab.

Thanks in advance,

You want to go with one that can move 1 1/2 times the weight of your truck minumum. I would at least go 10,000 pound wich.

I agree but it also depends on your tire size and what you'll be wheeling in. I have a 9500 but don't wheel in mud.

Well thanks for the 1.5 times your weight info. If I have a few extra $$ this summer, I'll grab one. I have seen the way some people hook their trucks up to other trucks when there stuck. I'd have to say 80 percent of the time they just sit there and yank the FU(k out of their front bumper or what ever they are hooked to. I dont really like that idea too much. I plan on getting stuck in the mud so i'll need a sure way out. I know Warn makes winches, is their any other cost effective winch out there that would be suitable for me? Also I'm plannin on puttin a westin push bar on my truck. Think that would be strong enough? I mean I can have it reinforced if necessary (prb a good idea anyway). But if I welded a plate on the front and mounted that winch to it, think it would handle it as it is? Let me get ya guys a link.

Link for my pushbar sittin in the garage.
