I just got my Ramlast Aug. It now has about 85K on it, with no issues yet...(again, knock on wood) I don't plan on messing with it, as the fluid looks good and red and it shifts nicely... I think I'll just leave the fluid in it until it dies... Probably not, but I hear too many horror stories about servicing followed closely by failure...

Thanks for the responses, keep 'em coming...

My 01 had that the anchor inbetween the front band and front band adjuster fall out around 97k miles. It hasn't been right since but was good enough you could drive it for a thousand or two and now at 99k it had gotten pretty bad so I figured I'm just having it replaced instead of messing with it more. Doesn't want to shift right anymore and feels like you are slipping a clutch when taking off. Really bad on a hill or something as it just doesn't want to take off then.

2001 5.9 off-road pkg, 4WD here, 73,000 miles. No failure yet, shifts nice and firm. Saving $$$ just in case.

01 5.2 2WD RCSB, beat the hell out of it, and just rolled over 111K. No tranny problems at all. Fluid filter change ever 15-20K I guess... uh, shifts good.

145,000. Still having regular issues after two years now at 160,000. Three torque converters. Can't use cruise control on hills as the detent cable is in way too far and the truck will downshift to 1st gear at 55mph. Tranny has 1.5 years left on warranty, then the truck is gone.

Have a '98 4x4 79000. I have owned it 1.5 yrs. The front and real seal were leaking on the trans when I bought it. I had the trans pulled and seals replaced. The shop said it was a good thing I did cause the torque convertor was about to go, sooooo I replaced the convertor as well. Trans shifts great... firm no problems here.

Thats the thing... STOP WORRYING ABOUT IT!!!!!!

These trannys really arnt THAT bad...

Look at the problems that ford exploders have with trannys... there is probably 1 dodge ram tranny failure for every 15 exploder failure... Particularly the 2002 year... but they all are alot worse than our trannys...

Ill admit, when I read all this crap about tranny failures on here (after I bought my truck) I got scared... wished I hadent bought a dodge...

Obviously they arnt bullet proof, thats well known... but id say the AVERAGE is failure at 120,000 miles... that really isnt that bad, and no one has any excuse to compain if they fail then... imo

These 30k +/- failures obviously are a defect with that particular tranny, or it was absoulutely hammered on.
Keep up on the maitenence and you shouldent have too many problems.
