97 4x4 slt short bed. mine went out at 153k got it rebuilt in july. truck came from Colorado no idea what it did but im gonna assume since it ahd trailer brakes it did its share of pulling and ahving fun. either way though i tihnk i would still be on that tranny had it not been flushed when my Transfer case died on me. 10k miles later pulls like a champ, and is alot of fun. i dont power brake anymore though
'97 1500 4x4 5.9L 125K Tranny shot when I bought it (w/ 115k), didn't notice till a week had passed. Have limped another 10k trying to scape up the coin to replace it. Tranny shop said it's toast, wants $3000 or more to rebuild. Truck was only $5000 to buy..... wonder why?
98 4x4 QC SB, first one went at 59,000, shortly after the dealer "serviced" it. I let them rebuild it only because they paid for the parts. That one went out at about 150,000. Bought certified rebuilt from aftermarket and it's been going good so far.
99 ram 5.9 1500 standard cab, 104K still on OEM trans. It gets bands adjusted and fresh atf+4 about every 20K (since 55K), and has a big B&M trans cooler. (and it doesn't get babied, tows race car, and gets its share of beating unloaded on the street as well)
PS, I knock on wood every time I mention it, but I do have another trans ready to go when/if this one does go out (got it from a buddy who wrapped his truck around a guardrail, still OEM trans with 33K and a transgo shift kit)
