Overdrive problem
Has anyone experienced their overdrive coming on while driving down the road. I did not touch the switch on the shifter. It just comes on by itself, no rhyme nor reason, and then goes back off. I am basically running in 4th gear until the light decides to go back off and it shifts into 5th. Is there a sensor or switch somewhere that may be going bad that is causing this?
Thanks.

RE: Overdrive problem
If your truck is kicking out of OD by itself, it's because the transmission is over heating. When your running in OD the trans mission fluid isn't circulating fast enough to cool it down because of the lower RPM. The computer will turn the OD off and the trans will down shift to bring the RPM's up to circulate the fluid faster through the trans cooler.

RE: Overdrive problem
I had to install a larger transcooler on my friends dodge.. The transmission never did that again. dependng on the year and tow package options.. u may need a tranny oil and filter change (if it is brown flush it down) or a larger than the stock cooler may be needed.
