Default Tires

I know I've posted this before, but Ive got to order some tires ASAP. I have a 1996 4x4 1500 and I need to know if I can for sure run 295/75/16's. Thanks to everyone that responded before but I need some more feed back.

A 295/75/16 will most likely rub. Most guys run a 285/75/16. I have 265/75/16. And I have the same set up you have as for a truck.

Look into 285/75/16. The 295's will be alittle too big.

That's like 33.5 by 11.5 So yeah they'll fit. The'll rub a little bit on the control arms if you try to lock the wheel the whole way, but that's bad for the power steering pump anyway. You can adjust your maximum steering or just learn how to drive to compensate. It doesn't take long.

265's usaully are best. They were an option from the factory. 285's are as big as u could put on stock height on a 4x4 even then measure lock to lock. Crawl in the wheel well and check the room u have. Some trucks dont have the same height.. i had a friend put wrangler 295' on and they would rub on the frame when turned to lock.. i recommend 265's and they can come pretty meaty.. and this way the trans isnt on much more load.. remember bigger tires.. more power to move them.. and so on..

I started with a 3" lift and 295's on 8" rims with 4" backspacing way back when..........lol

295's are considered 34" tires and althougI did not try it without a lift, I can't see them fitting without at least a 2" leveling kit and even then they will rub off road if not in town.

Here is my truck right after getting the wheels and tires (295/75/16 Hankook Dyna pro MT's on 16" x 8" wheels with 4" backspacing), and a Rancho 3" spacer lift:

It depends on the tire. I ran Pro Comp A/Ts in a 305/70/16 and wheeled them with no problems on stock wheels. I now have a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers in the same size and full lock to the right it will rub slightly on a control arm. I was actually pretty surprized. It must be the shoulders on them. Which, by the way, they suck. Don't buy them. The Pro Comps were awesome though.
