+1 Heres the press release.. February 5-6, 2008 Major Winter Storm
Southern Wisconsin
A major winter stormimpactedsouth-central and southeastWisconsin on February 5-6, 2008. This was a long duration event coupled with strong gusty winds and some thunder. Blowing and drifting snowcompounded the effects of the heavy snow. Total new snow accumulations in excess of 12 inchesoccurred in the area southeast of a line from Dubuque, Iowa to Madison to Beaver Dam to West Bend to Sheboygan. Up to 16inches fell in the area from Monroe and Janesville to the Port Washington and Milwaukee area...withisolated 18 to 21 amounts reported. Total snow amountstapered off quickly to 4 inchesnorth ofWisconsin Dells and an inch or less across far northwest Marquette county.
Theaccumulating snowgradually decreased from west to east in the late afternoon and early evening hours on Wednesday the 6th...and finally ended near Lake Michigan by around midnight.Occasional heavy snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches perhour were observed in that area where a total of 12 inches or more were measured. The winds wereout of the northat 15 to 25 mph with some gusts to 35 mph...although some brief, isolated gusts to 60 mph were noted. These windsgenerated blowing and drifting snow, especially in open areas. Visibilitiesdropped to below 1/4 mile at times, and west-east orientated roads experienced considerable drifting, and2 to 4 foot drifts. Some brief blizzard or near-blizzard conditionsoccurred near Lake Michigan where the windswere stronger, as well as in open, exposed areas over the remainder of southern Wisconsin.
Some roadsbecome impassable due to the blowing and drifting snow. A major traffic backup occured on Interstate 39/90 westbound south of Madison with as many as 2000 cars stranded for up to 12 hours.

On the weather map, a strong low pressure area over northwest Indianamoved from Missouri to central Illinois and then to northern Indiana andlower Michigan. Some moisture fromLake Michigan did manage to enhancethe snowfalls overparts of southeast Wisconsin.
Weather spotters sent an unbelievable number of snow reports to the Milwaukee/Sullivan office.

Last night was crazy.. 21 inches of snow in 26 hours.. Anyway i saw a county mounty sitting in the ditch. I should have driven by but I dont just let people sit in the ditch.. I asked it he wante to be pulled out. So I did. Then he asked that I pull him to a main road. (about 7miles) the drifts were as tall as my bumper. The crownvic wasnt gonna me it. Well 4lo and 7 miles later.. 100 dollar ticket and the information that it is illeagal to pull a car without a towing lisence.. F***er i told him I outta drag his a** back into the ditch and leave him there. That landed me a disorderly conduct ticket too. I have it all on video as soon as I fiqure out how to put it on the comp I can show u guys from start to end.
If this is true, I'm glad it didn't happen to me. I HATE cops with a passion already but this post made my blood boil. Holy ****.[:@]

As a law enforcement officer, I would have been extremely grateful for you pulling me out. I have had my buddies come rescue me a time or two. As far as the ticket, call the prosecuting attorney and tell him that you just tried to help him out--but stay cool--if you get mad at him, it won't do any good. This guy sounds like a piece of work--to bad cops like that give the rest of us a bad name.
I can only speak based on my own experience but it seems like "the rest of us" is 10% at best. I swear, I can't think of a time I've even spoken to a cop in passing with the cop being nice and respectful in return. Being pulled over is another story. Wait, I take that back. In the past 10 years, I have had ONE experience where a cop was kind and respectful to me when he pulled me over.

Early one morning during summer of last year I got pulled over while pulling my boat to the lake. The cop was really nice about it and he told me he pulled me over because one of the boat trailer lights was out. He thought it might be the wiring harness or something like that so he helped me mess with it for about 5 minutes right there on the side of the road. It turns out that it was the bulb. He told me where to go get one that early in the morning and let me go as if we had been best friends for decades.

It is a shame that this was the only positive experience I've had with a cop. I'm talking about ALL experiences too. When I've been pulled over, been assaulted, had property stolen or broken into, etc. they have always acted as if I did something wrong. You know, as if I should not have been speeding (understandable), should not have been at the grocery store where I COULD be assaulted, should not have owned property that could be stolen or vandalized, etc.

I don't know, I guess I despise cops because right or wrong, legal or illegal, their job and purpose is to interfere and mess with peoples' lives.
