well the subject says it all....=) I'm curious to know what this may be it's odd but when I take off from a dead stop the truck jerks like it's going into gear or like the joints are catching up with it...I'll already be going approx 2-3MPH when it does this...it's almost like thud if you can image lol i know it sounds weird but I can't figure it out...I'm thinking maybe ball joints? but they never make noise any other time?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You sure it isn't the tranny slipping? Mine acted like that when it started getting really bad. I could put the gas to the floor and it would hardly move then all of a sudden it would catch and jerk and go
I'm thinking mine was the band burnt up in the tranny but I don't know for sure.

no it's not the tranny because it takes off just fine and changes gears fine it almost feels like if your taking off from a dead stop and towing a large trailer and you know when the tounge and chains catch up with the truck. Thanks for the thought though

I believe low tranny fluid level could do that till it builds enough pressure to shift.
If you're thinking u-joints, you can always crawl under and shake them and see. But you should notice that moretimes than just from a stop.

well if it's u joints which area would I shake? I know I do have a leakey gear box that I think the seal is going out in it but I mean that's hardly even a leak like a drop a day maybe...sorry for all the questions this is my first dodge and I have already noticed they all seem to have the same problems.

Grab the end (both) of your driveshaft at the joint and shake like heck. If it wobbles, there's the problem. If it is solid, it's probably something else.
