Default New idea

Hey, I plan on having this setup.. whats your opinions? I plan on buying the flowmaster 40 series original, single in single out(not much difference in sound having si/do anyways) and i plan on having it 3" in 3"out and have it exit before the rear passenger tire, shorter pipe, going to be louder. Then i plan on either having a highflow cat or something done to my current one. What you think? It will be cheaper too.

Sounds like a good plan, I happen to like si/so. If you can afford a hi-flow cat I'd say go for it.

You think it will sound loud? A highflow cat would make it even better. You run a si/so magnaflow right?

I run shorty headers to the stock y-pipe. Then, a dual in/single out Magnaflow cat. From there it is 3" single pipe to a Flowmaster Super 40. It is loud, but not really that loud. The Flowmaster gives it a nice deep rumble. Just run straight pipes if loud is your thing. FYI, when I went from the stock 2.5" pipes to the 3" pipes from the cat out, it felt like i lost low end. I'm not going to argue this with anyone because we've locked enough threads on this topic. Just my personal observation on this setup as it was on my truck.

Probably sound LOUD. I'm assuming you must not have neighbors that you care about.
I like the exit in front of the front tires. I think IndyRamMan has that setup, and it looks cool as hell. Someone else has it too, but can't remember right now who.

I think it will be loud, but loud is a relative term. What is loud to me may not be loud to you. I know I keep dancing around the answer, I just think the only way your going to be happy is to try it for yourself. Plus I don't want my lack of experience with different mufflers to lead you downthe wrongpath. I think the hi-flow cat would make it sound better, but if I'm wrong I know I'll be shot down quick

single in glass pack with single out on a 2 1/2 " pipe sounds good...

another idea for silver , run 2 1/2" from cat to the muffler and keep the 3" tail pipe.. some dodge rams come factory like that...

Reason why im replacing my current exhaust is, they put an expanded piece of pipe to fit a 2 1/4" muffler.. And if they took that piece off and welded a 2.5" in there instead, its going to probably look stupid. But i dunno.. if thats the case ill swap another muffler in and keep my pipes.
