Default Dealership oil change

I went to the dealership to get an oil change because I had a 16$ voucher in the mail. Just so happens that they are running a special incintive program. I get 10 oil changes at the low low price of 9.99$ each. After tax the total was 114$ and some change. Needless to say I could not pass this by. They send the vouchers in the mail and all you do is hand them one at check out. No expiration/ no time limit.

There was a customer at the register who insisted that there was a catch. That there was no way that you could get a deal like that. What an idiot. You sign a service agreement so there is no way out of it for them.

I went through the process, had everything done, I go to pay for the oil change. The man tells me no charge! He says that since I bought the service my oil change was free. Can you believe that -awesome. It is not even counted against my agreement. I use full synthetic so I did have to pay the difference but no big deal.

You all might want to see if it is available in your area. The guy made it sound as if it was a corporate wide deal.

What part of the country are you in? I run a $9.95 LOF for most makes and models and have done that since 2001. My synthetics and diesels are higher, bu tthe $9.95 has been great.

The catch is they are going to try to sell you some maintenance when you bring it in.
Not that that's really a catch.
One dealer I used to work for offered "Lifetime oil and filter changes" on Chrysler products less than 10 yrs old for $100.

How can maintenance be a catch?! The dealer uses that cheap oil change to get you in the door. Of course they are going to sell some maintenance. We need it, don't we? You can't be afraid of your dealer. They are there with the right people to do the right job.

Nope! Not a tech! I guess that I just have a great dealer that I trust to do the right thing. Been going there for everything for 6 years and have never had a problem. These guys just seem to get it right!

When I was little, we always had a mechanic down the street diagnose anything he couldn't fix and where the best place to go too was. Anything he could do in his outdated shop, he did for very cheap. What I'm gettin around too was, if we didn't need the oil change, we didn't get one. No catches. Lol.

You sound like you had a bad experience somewhere. My dealer doesn't ever sell me anything I don't need. I read the owner's maintenance manual, and do what they tell me. I guess they are doing some thing right, because I have only one warranty repair with the radio. Last time I checked, the radio wasn't required to have maintenance. Ha ha!
