Default Is it okay to run this?

I got my rotors turned today and noticed when I went to pick them up they have a chip in them. They guy there said it should be fine but I was curious will it? I don't want it to tear up my $90 worth of pads.

You should be fine. If you noticed before you got yhem cut there was probably a little lip of rust on the rotor. This is normal because the pad does not run all the way to the edge.

I don't see it giving you any major issues... Where that chip is just won't contact the pad, so you should be fine...

Thanks. I didn't pay attention before I took them in. I don't like having rotors turned but I figured hey it's $20 vs almost $300 for another set of dealer ones like this or Atleast $100 from a local parts store for some cheapo brand.

I've always been pleased with replacement rotors and pads from Autozone. Granted, if I was towing a lot and heavy, I would probably opt for higher performance gear, but just DD with occasional towing...good enough.

EDIT: nothing wring with turning rotors...it's a good $$$ saver...just do it once though[8D]

Yeah this is the first time I've done it with these. I bought them from the dealer when I worked at a shop and got a discount through the local dealer. I used them for one set of brake pads that lasted about 16k. Well I had maybe 1k on them before putting these rotors on then have maybe 10k on the set after that so I decided to turn them and use them for this set of pads. I Will probably go with a new set next time I change the pads.

I've heard of a lot of issues with Autozone and similar rotors being warped when new so I want to avoid that. When I worked at a shop we would have some come in like that from Fishers and just turn them.

I was going to use these with Hawk Pads but since Summit messed up my order so much I'm just putting a set of Raybestos pads on there. They are $90 from a local store so hopefully they are good.
