Changes about to go down.
If it was one of those crappy cork/rubber gaskets I could see it happening. Some of them don't even have the reinforcers around the bolt holes. I had to torque mine down about 3-5 ft/lbs. more than the specs to get my pan to seal. If he hit something and torqued the pan even a little I could see it leaking.

id say its about 90% chance of blown gasket and leakey fluid, 10% solenoid and 75% chance of major problems (since hes been running it with low fluid)
