It's not my truck, its just the nature of a lifted truck with 35/12.5" tires. It can go 100mph, but just not safely, I know how a truck drives. My brothers truck is just as tall and its rides smooth as hell like butter. This truck is all top heavy and the suspension is not stiff, I hate it. I drive all the trucks in the family, and they ride like a truck is supposed to. This truck drives very unsafely, and even the slightest gust of wind, or tilt in the road just makes it uncomfortable, its uneeded stress. Going back to the stock height off the offroad edition with 285s is not small be any means either. It's still going to be taller than most trucks, but at least it will have its structural integrity back. Plus its going to be very badass and very fast which I will really love, a 4x4 truck that can haul some serious ***.

If you do decide to get 285s save your self some bucks and get 16" wheels when you get your new wheels, or grind your calipers down a little and get 15" wheels. I wish I had 15" wheels with my 285s cause they would look alot better than they do with the 16s, and they'd look really gay on 17s. That'll cut your tire and wheel cost down a pretty penny.

That all sounds nice, but it's just more money I don't want to spend. See me, I love speeding. I'd much rather have a truck that was a middle of the road offroader, but could really speed. I need speed. I love hearing a v8 opened wide up. To me, I love a truck that can towe, pass people effortlessly, be safe on the roads when it's snowing out real hard. This truck is not safe in snow storms, it slides all over the place, it's really top heavy, high speed impaired, I hate that. But your right, maybe the whole lift thing aint for me. I just don't care for all the **** that has to be working to make it work, especially since I don't know how to do everything myself. I'd much rather have this truck back to its offroad height, which is still high, and have some nice solid 285s on her. This way she'll haul some ***, still be badass, and a sweet solid 4x4 truck. I don't need the over extensive lifted truck. 1500s are useless this high, unless like you said you compensate with heavy duty axles and ****, which I dont want to do. So lift is going back down, 285s on her, tranny being repaired. And then she will be way safer, a real working truck, and it wont be the family joke anymore, with the all show no go in working terms.

I'm starting to wonder if a truck just isn't for you. You love speeding... speeding in these trucks we already bring up the gas mileage. And since you don't want to spend more money than you have too.... etc. Yes, v8's wide open sound great, but what about looking into a v8 car? Corvette? jk. lol... You say you want a truck that can tow, pass people effortlessly, and yet you want to speed. You need low gear for towing, and you need tall gears for top end... think about it. You want to be safe when its snowing real hard. thats easy!.. lol, SLOW DOWN! Yes our trucks slide all over the place if your not adjusting your driving tomatch the driving conditions. Sure anyone can slide out in a snow storm, but if you just take it easy.... you'll be a heck of a lot better off. Yes the truck is top heavy and thats what you get with a truck, it is not a car. haha solid 4x4 truck, you make me giggle like a little school girl. These trucks are no where near solid off road. Just the nature of the beast. Your lucky you come with a stock LSD. It takes quite a bit of money to make a solid 4x4 truck. I just hope your happy after you take your lift down (spending more money to have someone remove the stuff, realignment, new tires...) There goes your first sentence that you dont want to spend a lot of money. Oh yea, and that trans.... I think you need to sit down and think about what exactly you want to see. I mean how many times do you tow honestly. Honestly idk what to tell ya. Just think about what you want to see happen before you go droppin more $$$. and PS, dont go back to that header shop to have them remove your lift. Just messing with ya. As always, good luck!

No it's not. That's whatScottr1110 was trying to tell you, and i'm sure Silver andnhbill, and the other guys with lifted trucks can tell you. Something is wrong with your truck. Something's loose. You said in another thread you thoughtyour track bar adjusted itself. Is it loose?I mean it could just be a ****tycheap crappysuspension lift but Idoubt it.Just goover it all and make sure the bolts are all torqued down to spec. I can give you thenumbers if you want. If it was just the nature of the truck than your brothers truck (thatis"just as tall, but rides smooth as hell" as you put it) woulddrive like **** too. Check your ball joints out too, might be time to replace those. Wheel bearings could do it too. It's definetly notsuppose to be that way.

Umm let me say a few thing. I have a 97 1500 4x5 5.2L V8, Mods on engine are just k&n. No chip or anything. I have STOCK GEARS, thats liek 3.85's or what ever the **** they are. Transmation was replaced at 68K miles truck just hit 80K. I have a 5'5 fabtech suspension lift on 35's. At the highway yes u can get tossed around but even WITH 3.85's my truck maxes out at 100. Thats not even close to being geared right. U need to look at ur engine and set up instead of thinking its ur lift and tires. GET A PROPER SET UP

So it is UR TRUCK and how UR TRUCK WAS SET UP.

ON top of that its a ****ing lifted truck not a god damn lowered race car.

I have the 3.96 gears with 285 tires. 80 mph no problem but say goodbye to mpg. You really need to decide what you want in a truck. speed or *****. stability or looks. there is a fine balance but you have to decide what you want first. The other thing these trucks are a huge amount of work. There is a ton of maintence that you have have to do with a truck that you don't in a car. If you can't handle the maintence then the truck won't last.

i have no idea what the issue is here.. i have a 2001 1500.. with a 5.2 in it... 6 inch lift.. and 35 inch tires (super swampers at that) WITH stock 3.55 gears..... and i havent found ANYTHING this truck cant do.. matter of fact.. when my FORD wrecker broke down (one of the many times) it was my ram that pulled it.. with a chain.. at 50 mph w/o even a struggle.. i take mine on the highway.. and i have no problems.. i can hit 90 without any hesitation.. no shaking.. no nothing... when the wind hits it? oh well.. welcome to driving.. my caravan does worse in the wind than my truck does .. the ONLY thing i have had to do to this truck in the year that i have had it is to replace the battery.. and just had a ball joint put in.. just put a new muffler on it.. and the routine oil changes.. brakes.. etc.. my gas mileage isnt GREAT.. but it could be worse.. i would say 10-12 mpg .. i have towed cars.. trucks.. even a 40 ft camper home with it with the back of the truck filled with cinder blocks.. dont believe me.. i do have pics.. as far as mudding ? i can go anywhere i have ever wanted to.. usually not even in 4wd.. kept it in 2 and it went fine.. either 1.. your so stuck on fords .. you cant get used to the idea of liking your dodge.. or you got the pick of the litter.. and it was a POS before you got it.. and someone seen you comin.. but honestly.. i wont get rid of my ram for nothin
