Can anyone tell me what the 1692 Code is? My truck is at a mechanic shop. Had the trans rebuilt. Now after that has been done the mechanic put his scanner on it and it comes up with a 1692 code and NOW The Check Engine light is on and that has NEVER been on before.
My truck is a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel. Any info be greatly appreciated. They suppose to be the mechanic and not me and now they act clueless on what's wrong with the truck... Thanks

 

Fault in Comp Module or P1692 DTC Set In ECM A "Companion DTC" was set in both ECM and PCM

Not sure what caused it, try to have code cleared and see what comes back.

 

The mechanic claimes he cleared the codes and re-tried the scan and came back up with the 1692 Could the PCM be going out?

 

P1692 = Fault in Companion Engine Control Module

Something wrong with the computer looks like.

 

Is he reading this code in the PCM?
If so it means there is a code in the Diesel Engine Controller module.
Tell him to scan the diesel engine controller (ECM) if he can.
