I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9L. It has had low oil pressure since I bought it. It sits around the low mark on the guage 90% of the time. It goes up when I get on the gas but thats about it. I've never had any problems and the engine sounds the way it should. Recently the oil pressure light has been coming on when I come to a stop. The second that I start going again the light goes off. Any ideas?

 

You may want to start by replacing the sending unit and see if your oil pressure comes up, if not I would buy a manual gauge and test if you are getting oil pressure.
