I know another exhaust Q
need advice, i want to get new exhaust when i bought the truck it had exhaust already but all rusty and crappy. it looks like aftercat splits to 2 cherry bombs and dual all the way out 2 1/4 inch turndowns and i dont really like the sound. big fan of flowmaster and was wondering what size to do si/so. i read threads saying loos of low end torqe by going to big. i tow a 20ft motorcycle trailer every weekend so i dont want to lose my torqe. so what size should i go or should i go dual out. i doesnt matter to me cuz im gonna dump it so u cant see it. i appreciate the help.
sweet, is there any tone or loudness difference between single or dual? i plan on getting high flow cat and headers this summer when i make more money ( A/C business, hot = more hours
and should i get a bigger y-pipe if so what size?

I have 3 inch Y into 3 inch in 2.5" duel out muffler and didnt lose any torque.....i wouldnt be concerned about backpreasure, with stock manifolds and stock downpipes just go with what sounds good to you...
well i plan on getting ypipe and hedder soon and i dont want to have to redo it when i get those. im kinda leening towards the si/so since im gonna dump it anyways. and that would save me on extra piping. so just saying i have the ypipe, hedders, and high flow cat. should i go 2.5 in/out or 3 in/out. like i said i tow a lot and know ill gain in mid to top end but i dont want to have to floor it to go anywhere. i know im being difficult so i really appreciate all your input.

I just had a new Flowmaster 40 put on today. I had my exhaust guy run new pipe from the cat back (2.5" I think, or was it 3"?, it's late!) and dual 2.25" outs with 3.5" tips. I thought the FIPK intake improved throttle response? This thing WANTS to go now! It sounds like a 360c.i. V-8 now when you step on it, yet isn't real drony(sp?) when cruising. I can not believe how much better it goes now. I'm wondering if my stock muffler had a clog or collapsed baffle, that's how much better she takes off now. I have a feeling my low end won't be affected at all, and I can tell already she runs better and I believe my mpg may increase a little. I went with dual real exit sraight under the bumper, it looks great and sounds awesome!! Hat's off to Tim @ Exhaust Plus in Columbia, TN!! Question though-can a freer flowing exhaust drop your rpm's? It looked to me she was running a couple of hundred lower witht the new vs old at 60 mph.
Hope this helps bro. BTW I had Tim replace my exhaust header gaskets because I leak on each side. Good thing I did. The previous owner did a gasket change out, broke off a bolt on either side and just silicone sealed them back on. I'm glad I didn't have time to tear her apart here. I'd have had one hefty tow bill getting her to the shop.
