Default electrical/satelite radio help, how do I do this?

hey guys. I have always gottena lot of help here, so I thought i would ask here before I went to a electrical forum.

Okay I used to have my satelite radio hardwired with a fuse. Well I got a new Stilleto portable Sirius radio and it uses 5v not 12v. It has a adapter in the cigarette lighter plug.

I wanted to go for a "clean" look. Well my primiative mind could only come up with installing a hiddedn power plug and plugging it in there. I figure there has to be a way to step down voltage from 12v-5v. Without having a hidden plug, although that would work, I want a more technical project.

So if anyone here knows how to step down voltage from 12-5 volts without me using the stock adapter that would be great.

thanks in advance.

I just bought a kit from Best Buy that is designed to hardwire you Sirius like that. It was an easy install. It comes with an adapter that resembles your cig lighter. On the end of that adapter is the wires to connect to a ignition switched power source and a ground. Wire that into your truck using a power source that is turned on with the key (not one that is on all the time). You then just plug in the current power connection from your sirius (the one you usually plug into your cig lighter of power outlet) into that adapter and hide it all behind the dash somehwere. Makes a very clean setup.

Actually, I may have gotten it at Car Toys, not Best Buy. I think I got the antenna hardwire kit at Bestbuy, and that power adapter kit at Car Toys.

I don't have a car toys around here but I will check their website.

I had thought about a cheap outlet from walmart (like $2.50) and the just run that behind the dash. I was wondering if there was another way, but it seems like it is the easiest and it will still be clean.
