Default not idleing...

truck idles fine until i drive it for about 5min then it wants to die whenever i come to a stop sign or when ever i let off the gas, to keep it running i have to put it into neutral and keep it reved. sometimes it also smokes from under the hood i think from the valve cover area.. any suggestions on what could be wrong

1st: the idle , clean your IAC behind , on the throttle body , you will need a #25 torx to get the screws out (2) becareful not to damage the IAC plunger just clean the tip and shaft with brake cleaner and gently wipe it down..

2nd: if the valve cover has a leak then its time for a valve cover gasket...

Not sure about the smoking from under the hood... but I had a DEAD battery the other day, and it would not very well at all after a jump start. Once the RPMs fell... the truck died. It ran really bad until i was able to pull the battery and put it on the charger.

+1

The IAC may be bad. Try cleaning it very carefully first. Use throttlebody cleaner on it. If that doesn't fix the problem, replace it.
