Default towing anyone - 408 stroker, brakes

Looking to upgrade to a 408 stroker, not sure which config yet. Anyone have experience with a 1500 short bed using a 408 stroker ??

Also need ideas on upgrading brakes, front and rear.

Torque and hauling is the primary goal, not speed. Anything over 65mph is wasted.

No, but I wish I did.

You can get drilled and slotted rotors for the front that simply replace the factory ones. Maybe a company like SSBC makes an entire front end kit with larger rotors and calipers. You can also ditch the rear drum brakes for a disk set-up.

It's easy to piece a rear disc kit together. I did the one in my Blazer for $300. You can get the caliper brackets off Ebay for about $60. I used rotors from a '78 Ford 3/4 ton at $40 each (they had the proper offset spacing), calipers and lines to match the front ones so they were interchangeable, and put a proportioning valve in the line for adjustment. You can probably build a rear disc setup cheaper than you can get drilled and slotted rotors for the front.

If cost isn't a factor, check with Stillen or Stainless Steel Brakes.
