Question
My build sheet says:
Corporate 9.25 LD Rear Axle
Does the LD mean "Light Duty" axle? Also, I saw nothing on the build sheet about LSD...do these trucks have any type of indicator on the stump that lets you know if it is LSD?

LD is in fact Light duty.
The '01 have a sticker in the glove box that will definitely comfirm if you have a LSD unit. Look for the words Trac Lok or LSD.
You're build sheet will also have it on it as well. so you probably just have an open differential.

I checked the sticker in the glove box and double checked the build sheet. Nothing says LSD... The only time "lock" is on either is for the "lock-up torque converter." The glove box says, gear ratio 3.55, front axle: Dana M44/2, rear axle: Corporate 9. I take it this is not the LSD rearend... Ah well, I don't really care, just wanted to know whether to add the friction modifier or not. Thanks, guys...
EDIT: According to the Amsoil website, both the front and rear differentials hold 4.9 pints (2.45 qts) of fluid. Is this accurate based on you guys' experiences?

2.5 qts is about right. just fill it up to the bottom of the fill plug. recheck later after giving it a chance to sling around inside the axle tubes.

I checked for tabs, nothing there...I am going to use synthetic 140 weight, since that is what the field manual states for the front and rear (heavy duty) applications. The prices are ridiculous! I went to Autozone today...$16.99/qt for Mobil 1 Synthetic. I can get RP here on base for $11.35/qt...guess I'll use it. Still steep...[:@] But, at least it doesn't have to be done very often...may as well make it count.
