Default RE: Transmission

Well checked the fluid guys, it's topped off. I couldn't use a check though, I only had starter checks, and they wouldn't accept that.

The only reason I went with them is because their transmission has a big warranty on it....makes sense now. I don't care what the truck needs to be right, the fact they let me leave that shop with the truck so terribly wrong, means they didn't even test drive it, or they know something is wrong with it..

I was supposed to drop it with them this morning, but I'm not doing that. My dad is making me bring it to the dealer to have an unbias assessment. Even if it means taking it apart. We want to know if they reused any of the old parts. It feels like the torque converter guys. I have this sick feeling they reused my torque converter from my old tranny, or that they parted out my old tranny. They'd make a lot more of a profit by doing this. There is just no way a brand new transmission, of any quality, would be this terrible freshly installed. Some of their parts must be faulty. I don't think a calibration issue could cause all the loud clinking, lack of power, and hard shift points, and lack of shift points. So I'm dropping it at the dealership right now. I know they suck, but they at least know their dodges. We just have to find out what's going wrong right now before it goes back to the ****ing ***********. Ahh...why does this **** always happen to me. I pay for the product, and it doesn't work. How the hell does one pay for a new transmission, and it fuction worse than the previous one when it was dying? I hate Maine lol. We are going to get to the bottom of this.

I also have the build sheet now guys. Here's what it says:

Part # Derscription

18852 Rear Diff Seal------------------------------------ $14.50
34743D M/C SEAL EXTHSG 400 65UP----------------------$11.40
9393 PAN HEAVY-DUTY DODGE-------------------------$283.15
ATF FLUID AUTOMATIC-------------------------------$11.68
ATF FLUID AUTOMATIC-------------------------------$35.04
C2088 46RE TRANSMISSION CORE-----------------------$300
C2088 46RE TRANSMISSION CORE------------------------ -$300
T2088HD REMANUFACTURED 46RE Heavy-Duty Transmission--------- $2,495
Labor----------------------------------------------------------$943

Now...wouldn't the torque converter be apart of that Parts list??? OR is that just assume in the transmission???
So there it all is, the parts, and labor cost.....Ok, I'm going to the dealership now. I'll be back in a few, what a disgrace though huh guys??

Well there's one answer to the big question, "Is it NEW or REBUILT".
It is so hard to find a good and honest mechanic! Now that they put it in writing, which could be used against them in a court of law, they indicate that it is a "REMANUFACTURED" tranny.

Isn't that rediculous? I wouldn't have boughten a $2500 remanufactured ****ing transmission. I just dropped it with the dealership. I'm doing this for two reasons. One, get an unbias assessment of what is going on. And two, I want it documented that we had this truck assessed immediatly after it was given to us. Just incase we ever have to go deeper into this, they won't be able to say I could have caused the damage etc. Im having the dealership figure out if there is in fact a new torque converter or not as well. Just some really sickening stuff guys...

Which arm and leg is the dealership going to take from you to do that assessment? You're about out of limbs I think.

I think your diggin yourself into more of a hole by taking it to the dealer. I'll tell you right now that if I rebuilt your trans after I had it all sealed up.... and you took it to another trans shop where they opened up. I don't think I would fix it. If you verbally come out and tell me that someone else had been in the tranny besides them, I don't know if they really have to warrenty the tranny any more. Let alone that if anyone touches the tranny, they will be able to tell anyway. That paint will chip. After you tell them that, all they have to say is.... "Well if you had a problem, why didn't you bring it back?".... "it would have been covered under your warrenty" To bad you just voided 3 years of it. I don't know if the torque converter was included or not in your case. I would assume not. My tranny was 2800 installed OTD. More expensive than the average it seems but I had an aftermarket TQ installed which was around 300. Mine needed replaced anyway after the clutch's grinded up. IDK about your shop, but my ATRA cert. shop fixed it, had her ready to go. Pulled off the lot slow and she was great. They tell you to come back a week later where they take your vehicle back out just to make sure everything is gravy. mmm... gravy. lol Wish ya luck man as always. Just wish you could think ahead about something like this. Im still confused why you wouldn't bring it back to the shop?????????????????????

AHAHAHA as I look closer.... you got rape'd for a chrome tranny pan! $283 wtf? Shoot, for 4000, they ought to have included synthetic. I have the ATF+4 Non Mopar and it's still as pink as the day I got her back. In your case, im pretty confident they didn't use ATF+4, but rather some bulk ATF +3 with a friction modifier or some crap like that. Your tranny fluid is aweful cheap. Mine was 100 bux. The dealer could'nt find amsoil anywhere... so I settled for another brand.

Default RE: Transmission

I have even more sickening news....

Dealer just called me back. He said, "You don't have a transmission problem, you have an engine problem."

Now wtf does that mean??? What the hell would cause my truck to not shift, and the whole truck stutter to hell at anything above 40 mph?? The truck has always run great. I wouldn't have put a new transmission into the truck if the engine didn't run great. The truck has never had this issue. I am having a hard time imagining it's my engine causing all of this. And all of that weird noise coming from the floorboards, it sounded like the transmission. He said they did a diagnostic though, and nothing came up on the transmission, but on the engine. Said it's going to be about 2 hours of labor to get an assessment. But I have no choice guys, I have to have it assessed, what else am I supposed to do?

I swear guys, all of this modding crap has to stop. It's caused nothing but trouble. Sure my truck looks badass and special, but it's ran nothing like the way it looks. My dad has a 1999 F-150. It's clean, and simple, and has nothing done to it. My truck has seen way more shop time in the 7 months I've owned it, than my dads 9 year career with his truck. I'm not saying because mines a dodge, I'm saying its because of all the stupid modifcations done to it. The lift, the tires, the headers. All of that crap just ****s with a trucks durability and longevity. I am not touching the truck anymore, if I ever get it back that is. I wish I had the money to get those stupid mud tires of too. I just want some smooth ****ing realistic tires on my truck, and I want my truck running in tip shape. Modifications just cause problems. My brother has to spent $3,000 fricken dollars just last month because he wanted headers on his truck. All it did was expose a crack in his casting of his head, and he had to have the whole engine taken apart because they could bolt the manifolds back up against the chip. Unless you have the money, all modifiying a vehicle does is make it subject to weird **** that it wouldn't have if it were just left alone. I'm just a big dumb idiot. I wish I never put these ****ing headers on either. Now I just paid $4,000 for a transmission, and I have no idea what the engine problem is. It's making me sick, I don't have anymore more money. Maybe it's something simple, maybe it's not. Either way, when all is said and done, I'll have an older truck with more than $8,500 put into it just between the headers incident and now this incident. Great....and then I still have to buy brand new tires. Great. Any ideas guys what could be causing this stutter of the engine so INTENSELY?? This is a new engine problem too, it's never had this problem...

neon man dont listen to the dealership. they also told me i had no misfire when the truck would buck 10 foot in the air.

get the truck back, take it back to the tranny shop. if it was runnin beautifuly before you took it to get the new tranny, THEN ITS NOT THE ENGINE.

How did the engine feel when you started it and how did it idle before you put it in drive? It does sound very wierd that suddenly the engine is acting up. I am wondering if the CPS has been damaged, not making a good connection at the connector, or installed out of position thus causing many of the symptoms you have described.
