I think the problem is he just believes everything the salesmen tell him. Their job is to sell you the product. Do you really think they would tell you it wont hold up?

well thats why you, me and others tried to tell him to get one from dr evil, aps, or fastman. seems like everytime we try to tell him somethin he says "nah its cool this guy told me this and this" then we ask for a build sheet... "the guy at the shop said it was hd i promise, he said it was designed for this truck" ok dude....

then! "damn the tranny is messed up it wont shift right, wont go over 40"

NEON!!! LISTEN TO YOUR FORUM BROTHERS NEXT TIME!!!!!

Got my truck back today. Took her out to get it all cleaned up, and she is really shining...my happiness only lasted so long. The truck is wining in first gear and takes awhile for it to shift, and then when it does shift, it clunks in HARD. Second gear, it will keep wining and wining until you let off. Third get shutters in and then clicks into 4th. And 4th is a nightmare and shutters the whole truck, truck will not go over 40 mph. I am keeping my cool though. I had one of their guys take a test drive for me. Says he needs to reacalibrate the pcm and add a resistor...

I'm dissapointed they didn't have this all sqaured away before I jumped into it. For $4,000, they should have had any weirdness taken care of and that truck running in tip top shape. I know they did not test drive it because they wouldn't have let me take my truck back shifting like that. The guy is trying to blame the fact that the engine misfire code that come up on them is causing this...I beg to to differ. The truck NEVER did this. That other tranny was weak, but it actually shifted very smoothly, but would bob around in the higher gears. I'm to say the least a little shocked right now, I don't know how the truck isn't running anything but immaculate after $4,000 was given to them to make my transmission bulletproof designed for the truck. I'm dropping it back with them tomorrow morning, he said it just needs to be reacalibrated for the 35" tires. I will let them do their magic, but they will not get rid of me until that truck is riding in the best condition of its life. I'll see how it goes tomorrow. For now I have the truck in my possession, and she is looking mighty clean lol. Just too bad it has to go back into a dirty shop again. These guys are the best in town, yet they took the lazy route on their top customer, and didn't finish the job off. For $4,000, there is no excuses in the book for the truck not to be shifting PERFECTLY...none. I'll have more updates for you guys tomorrow when I get it back, until then, I'm just going to have myself a cigar and cola, and try and not think about this.

That is total Bullsh*t dude, I would hold the payment until the damn tranny shifts like a dream.............Don't let them bend you over for 4,000 grand

They must be complete morons, who have no idea what they are doing

Eek. That sucks dude. I was scared for my 1k overhauld, but it made the trip fine and I just need to swap the fluid out; think it's burnt or old, IDK. The Mobil doesn't belong in there either.

See those are my problems, but I have no clunking, clean shifting, all of that.

I think what you really need to do, like motor and hometheater say, get that build sheet. Let them prove what they put in and justify the cost. I know it's kind of hard to do, but when I had my truck in the shop, I called the guy constantly to make sure they were working on it, plus he needed business ASAP and just had to do an overhaul on mine. If it was anything more than that, taking longer time than usual, then something popped up that they don't know about. That's just how it is. They either jimmy-rig it to work temporarily, don't worry about it and hope the customer will believe it's a resistor (cough), or if they're any good, they'll let you know what's up, tell you what they're going to do about it, and get it right. I'd say for this one, you need to find someone locally with a 4x4 and have him show you the ropes around your truck. Reading on here doesn't seem to be as much as help to you as someone physically telling you how it is.

Well, like I said, get the info on what they did. Make them tell you what the problem was. I made the mistake and didn't ask what the problem was, I just took the guys word saying it was the "overdrive drum" which I later had a talk to my UTI buddy, and we figure he meant one of the gears had burned up (which all made sense cause I was smelling a burn smell, and my fluid was burnt). Lucky I had him there to get a second opinion so I could leave feeling okay about everything; low and behold, my truck made the 800 mile trip exceeding 73 mph on up to 85, then I didn't feel comfortable going faster knowing I had no money for a speeding ticket (so far never even been pulled over).

Took it out again tonight to get another feel for it. I wanted to bring it to my parents house to show my pops. I wanted him to know what it was doing so when we drop off tomorrow morning, we can dig into those asswipes. Either A.) Those ****ers didn't ever test drive it, or B.) they know something is wrong, and were trying to use the lsd as a way to get more money out of me. I am completely perplexed how theyd let me leave with the tranny like that! Guys, NO joke, this transmission, is shfting wayyyyy worse than the tranny i drove down with from the trip! It's not even like OK, it's like not even functioning. It wines in first and then clunks hard into 2nd. And there is this massive fluttering noise coming from the floorboard with acceleration. I cant tell if its an exhaust leak from the headers, or if its the transmission. When you try to lay into it, and shutters everywhere, and hardly moves, and this very loud noise comes from the floorboards, its rediculous. THe truck feels like it has no power, and its because that tranny is not connecting to the truck. How could they give me a truck driving like that? I gave them $4,000 for a brand new transmission. Even a ****ty dodge replacement would be ok for at least a year, but how can a brand new transmission act like this right out of of the box. Not shifting, whiniing, flutterring inside the cab, no power, it's making me sick. I also have some realy loud noises coming into the cab, lots of flutterring, and vibrating from the floorboards. I think there is some exhaust leakage as well, but I dont think its the main focus. THey know something is wrong, there is just no way they would give you a truck doing that right out of the box.

Some "heavy duty" transmission...

Dude, you have no idea how bad I feel for you.. I just immagine me being in your shoes...

Your truck is possesed!

No reason a brand new tranny should act up... I dont think that a badly adjusted TV cable could do waht your describing, bands not adjusted right could, but im not sure... A shop that builds that then doesnt test it, or doesnt know how to adjust a cable or bands I would not want touching anything on the inside of my tranny.

Thats really ****ty. I feel bad for you.
Did you talk to the manager when you went back the first time?
Seriously, can you stop payment on the cheque? Once they got your money there is no incentive for them to fix it properly.

Who told you were the best it town? them? and who gave you the idea you're their number one customer? That salesman really told you a story. I'm really glad you told him not to put their $1000 LSD in it. Do not let them bend you over on this man. I'm sure all they did was do a quickie rebuild of your old transmission, and one of the crap parts they didn't replace either donked it out, or they used ****ty quality oem parts for the rebuild. Or even parts out of another junk transmission they didn't think went bad. I knew the guy was selling you a load of crap whenever he said he was putting the same transmission in your truck that goes in power stroke and cummins turbo diesels (not like either of those trucks take the same tranny). You can take them to court over that much money.

I'm glad you got your dad involved too. Once upon a time when I was a yungin' and my eyes were not always open to ******** who wanted to take advantage of me my dad was always there to kick someones *** over it. Glad to hear yours is too.

At the very worst your out of your truck another couple of weeks, since you'll be taking your loan and buying an APS or a dr. evil transmission, and not paying ******** to put broken **** in your truck.
