Get lower gears if you want it to quit down shifting. If you're gonna stick with 265/75/16s get yourself some 4.10s. The ****ty factory 3.55 ratio is for like 225/75/16s

If you're thinking about getting bigger tires down the road, then you may want to hold off on this one, because it's not a job you want to do twice. But gears are the best bang for your buck, and if you're going to be towing, or if you plan on running bigger tires (like 35s) I deffinetly reccomend it.
LOL I like your avatar!!!

I'll look into 4.10s but won't that kill gas mileage too? I'm looking for more power and better mileage with bolt-ons. I'm not sure what effect going from 3.55s to 4.10s would have on gas mileage. Maybe the tire size would take away any negative effect.

Are you guessing at the rwhp or did you put it on a dyno?

Look around the motor compartment and on your pcm for a DC issuedsticker that says something about an authorized software update. You may want to get yourself a tuner. I recommend aSCT tuner. They are more expensive to start with, but as you mod it gives you the ability to flash updated tunes that you recieve via email.

You are on the right track with the lt's. Iran shorties, and am now running long tubes. The long tubes are better by leaps and bounds.

My truck weighs ~5250 with me sitting in it, as weighed by the scales at a major food distributor andDOT scales. DOT was actually around 5270
I'm just guessing at the rwhp based on a search I did on these forums yesterday. I'll look into the SCT tuner as well. I was originally looking at the coated Pacesetter LTs so I apologize for the confusion if you guys thought I was looking at the cheapy black painted ones. 5,250 pounds? It sounds like someone's scale is off a wee bit, whether it is yours or the other guy's. I know these are heavy trucks though. Other than needing to haul and tow stuff, that is a big reason why I got one. I used to have a Z28 and I always worried about how bad it would be for me if I hit or got hit by one of these trucks in it. I'd much rather be the guy in the truck in that case.

I'll make sure I get some quality header gaskets when I order the headers. Thanks for the advice.

Okay, I decided on the Pacesetter LTs with their y-pipe. I haven't decided which cat-back I want yet but that won't be an issue.

My main concern now is the o2 sensors. Summit couldn't even tell me if these headers had o2 bungs welded into them or not so I'm not sure what I need to do here. I've heard of Fastman's o2 sim box but I'm not sure how that works with this setup since they talk about the cat on his website. Either that or if the headers have o2 bungs, could I simply cut and splice to make the o2 sensor wire long enough to reach? Sorry for the newbie questions.

There is a bung in the passenger side collector. With that setup, the pcm will only monitor one bank of cylinders. I had a bung welded into the drivers side y pipe assembly. I am now using a wideband setup with a programmable analog outputgoing to the pcm with the sensor installed on the passenger side. If you have a bung on either side you can swap the sensor around and leave it the side where your fuel trims look thebest.

Forgot to say.....
For the rear you may want to pick up a simm. I went on the assumption that, with the cat that far back in the line, it would never reach light off temps and might throw a code, but I don't know for sure. I guess you could try extending the wire and see how it works out.

Welcome to the forum...[8D] I would definitely start with a good tune-up, lube everything up,andchange all fluids (oil, diffs, ps pump, etc.) just to make sure that everything is kosher. Don't trust dealers to do stuff...I traded for my Ram and changed the plugs 6 months later, discovering that they were way over gapped. Which means the dealer didn't change them... One cheap and easy mod that made a difference for me was the TPS mod in the DIY thread. It smoothed mine out... I would make sure all this stuff is good, then start doing mods. You need to check for a plenum leak and fix that before you get the hypertech, or chances are you will start pinging. Happy modding and congrats on your Ram...

They will actually help gas mileage because you won't have to hammer the gas pedal to get up to speed.

Highway speeds you will roughly be at 2000 RPM, which seems to be the sweet spot for the magnum motors

Thanks guys. I've been looking for a header install guide like I used with the Camaro but I can't seem to find any. Oh well, I've got another little beater that I can drive while I'm installing the headers so time really isn't an issue.

PM sent.

Here is a list of things I have ordered so far.

Gibson cat-back dual exit exhaust
180* thermostat
Summit Racing CAI kit

Are these too many mods to use with the Hypertech or will the Hypertech actually help if I have these mods? I will eventually get a SCT tune once I've got everything done but for now I'm going with some basic stuff. I have heard that the Hypertech will actually hurt performance or possibly cause harm with too many mods so I'm a bit nervous about getting it.

Those are about the mods I have minus the 180* T-stat and the Hypertech helped a little. The Hypertech recommends a 180* T-stat so that should be no problem also. I just didn't put one in as I didn't want to lose any of my heat and so far I don't seem to have a pinging problem. It to me would be worth the $150. I paid around that and wouldn't say that it's worth a lot more than that but for $150 I think it was worth it. Do I think it was worth the $288 or whatever you can find them for new? No but I do think it was worth $150.
