Radio has no clock or channels showing, somedays it will work though, mostly warm dry weather days? Have been told by dealer that its the ignition switch?

 

Sounds like a bad power lead. Pull the stereo, unhook the wiring harness. The wires in the harness should be labeled on the back of the radio. You should have a constant 12V on one wire and a switched 12V on another. Sounds like one of the two isn't getting power somewhere.

 

can you tell me if the plastic face trim on the dash snaps on or screws?

 

Most of it is just snapped in place, there are 4 screws...one on either side of the cup holders (pull the cup holders out and look in the recess and you'll see them) and there is also one on either side of the ashtray (remove ashtray and you'll see 'em) You'll have turn the key to Accessory and pull the shifter all the way to "1" and tilt the wheel down as far as possible to clear the face trim over them.
