Default Audio help

Posted in wrong forum first, so ill try this again. I have a 96 1500 ext cab, which appears to have a factory installed 6 speaker infinity system. One of the 6 x 9 in the doors is blown, and id like to update the system, but it has a 4 wire plug on the speaker. Any help?

i'm not an expert, but have heard that the infinity sound system has amps built into/onto the speakers. this might require a speaker +, -, and a 12 volt +, - wire. just a guess. you might be able to transfer the amp from the stock speaker to a replacement. again - just a guess.

one thing i do know, watch your depth and height on replacement. see my post over in audio for some guidelines. too deep will hit the glass. too much tweeter sticking out will bulge the door panels.

I read somewhere, i think on this forum, that the amp is attatched to the back of the speaker or something. It was attatched to something, and it is near impossible to get off without wrecking.
