Fix your transmision with this I gurantee

I'm pretty certain it even says in the Haynes manual to check it in park. One of those manuals I know says park, confused the hell out of me.
But get this. I once took my Explorer to a dealership because the transmission was, I thought, shifting funny, and they actually didn't tell me that it was shot and I needed a rebuild. They said it was ok, just the engine bucking. I even thought the tranny was shot...don't know if they woke up and felt like being honest for just 1 day or what.

Think it gives you two read points, for both in park cold and in neutral warm. I think the park while cold is for reference when filling, and neutral when warm is the actual operatinglevel.

The right way to check the transmission fluid is to.... 1) Start you truck. 2) Engage the parking brake. 3) Put the transmission into neutral to circulate the transmission fluid 4) pull and wipe off the dip stick 5) insert said stick all the way and pull back out and check level.

If you check it cold it should be on the low - lowest area on the dipstick.

It tells you how to check your oil on the actual dipstick.

. Now if I can just figure out why the shift points are wierd and why the TC won't lock.
