Default What would you do?

So check it out...when I bought my truck, I also bought a warranty (3yrs) on it, which covers the tranny. Would you let it ride and see what happens? The tranny is fine now. Or, would you beat the sh*t out of it and try to get a new one on the warranty? I have a $100 deductible and it's all new. Just can't decide if I should try to take advantage...[&:]

How long of warranty do you have left (and how many miles?) With your luck you would beat the snot out of it and not do a darn thing to it, then a week after the warranty expires have it not shift[&:] If you are going to do that, I would do something that is surefire to work, and is not too obvious that you did it so they do not say it was abused. Of course your morales come into play as well here, lol. Also, there is no guarantee your transmission will take a dump, there are a handful that last awhile...

I have about 2.5 yrs left, since I just got the truck last August. My mileage is at about 86K, but the tranny shifts fine now. If I decide to beat on it, it will be with like 1.5 yrs left on the warranty. There is no mileage on the warranty...just 3 yrs. My morals are not a factor...I paid for the warranty. The only thing is...if I don't use the warranty, I get $1600 back that I could put towards a better tranny.

I'd not beat on it hopefully it will last and take the 1600 back whenyou get done if you don't use it. Then put that towards a good transmission like a APS or Dr. Evil.

Find someone who has like a 3500 diesel truck, and strap them together at the hitch and go at it like a tractor pull. That's a good way to pop your tranny.

I'm with Hometheaterman here. If you blow it and they repair it they will use the parts they want to (i.e. cheapest) they sure won't build it to last. Just my 2 cents.

How about not worry about things breaking before they break, it will only lead to them breaking.

Worry about things when they are broke, and you need money to fix them.

I'd have to agree. If you tear the one you have up because you deliberately didn't try and take care of it, they may replace it with one that won't last a couple of months and then you could have to replace it out of pocket if the warranty is up. I'd try and take care of it, get the $1600 back and get a really nice one if you eventually need one.

Yeah, I guess it would be dumb to purposely ruin a good tranny. The contract (I had to review it) says the company can choose to use rebuilt parts if they want. Screw that... I will treat her nice and hopefully get my $1600 back.
