which tranmisson fluid is best
what transmisson fluid do yall recomend using? because im about to flush my trans fluid and change my filter and i was gonna try to get an input from some of yall that have some experience with all this and what brand yall might recomend me using and what brand of filter yall recommend me using?
This is asked almost daily but Mopar ATF+4 is the only thing I'd even consider running in mine. It's also what Wanye at APS seems to recommend which makes me like it even more. I've heard of a few guys running off brand ATF+4 like Napa or even Valvoline but I'd personally spend the extra for the Mopar. You can get it at Wal-Mart for around $5 a quart vs the $11 the dealer wants. It's a ton cheaper and the same thing since WalMart sells Mopar branded oil.
I thought about changing my fluid but it has almost 90,000 on it and I dont think it has ever been changed.Im afraid it'll take a crap on me if I do it because of whatever is holding it together might loosen up.How many miles do you have on yours?

Changing and flushing are 2 different things. With that many miles I would definitely drip drain, replace filter and clean magnet, and refill with clean fluid. Then I'd drive about 1000 miles and drip drain and refill again.

5-7 litres depending on how long you let it drain once the filter is removed.
You need a torx screwdriver to get the filter off on most. T-25 I think.

everybody i know has had bad luck with trannys, and what ive herd is that when they change the filter and stuff that the tranny doesn't bled itself out and then kaboom.so when i do mine i go to the shop where they have a pump and pump all new fluid in threw the lines that is the best way i think; the tranny is the only thing that scare the hell out of me.i do know that every company is particular to what they put in there trannys.
Suggested the daughter have her tranny fluid & filter changed in her '94 JGC. She took it to Big O for the work. Ask her to find what oil they used. They use only Dextron II. Had her take it to the dealer for a flush. The dealer claimed they found specs of oil in the radiator & for $7000 they would install a new engine. She took it to a local JC where they gave the radiator a sniff & pressure test, & also a compression test. Found nothing wrong. They changed the cap, rotor, plugs & wires for the price of the parts. Good Luck.
