i just picked up this engine from the previous owner, the heads are pretty new, just 2 bolts broken where the rocker arms would bolt to. can a machine shop do this for me?
sears sells an extractor that is reverse threaded and of a hardened alloy. It works great. You drill it in with the drill in reverse, then put the drill in forward and it screw the bolt right out.
Its a good thing to learn how to remove broken bolts yourself. Its a common problem and shade tree mechanics, will come across broken bolts. With the screw extractor you will not need to fix the threads in the block as it only damages the bolt and not the threads.
Its like $20, $10 if you go to Harbor freight, of course I think the crafstman quality is worth the extra ten.
