sears sells an extractor that is reverse threaded and of a hardened alloy. It works great. You drill it in with the drill in reverse, then put the drill in forward and it screw the bolt right out.

Its a good thing to learn how to remove broken bolts yourself. Its a common problem and shade tree mechanics, will come across broken bolts. With the screw extractor you will not need to fix the threads in the block as it only damages the bolt and not the threads.

Its like $20, $10 if you go to Harbor freight, of course I think the crafstman quality is worth the extra ten.

Left handed (reverse) drill bits and screw extractors are the best way to start.
Soak down with penetrating fluid and let it sit before you start.
