I'd guess your radio is in need of replacing. You can get a waaaaaay better aftermarket H/U for a fraction of the cost of a OEM one. I didn't have problems with my OEM one it worked great but I replaced it with an Alpine just because they are crappy radios.

I don't know of anything it could be unless its something internal in the radio which I don't know how to tell you to begin to fix as I usually just replcae them rather than taking them apart.

Yeah, it is toast. My uncle has a 96 1500 with the infinity system, it did that within the first two weeks he drove it off the lot (new), then they replaced it and it ended up doing the same thing, its funny because sometimes we will be driving down the road with the radio on, it only buzzes ,then we hit a bump and it comes on and he goes "oh, I like this song", then it turns off halfway through the song, lmao. Some of you think your truck is a POS, you should see the list of problems with his.

For the new one, I suggest getting a mid grade pioneer. IMHO, pioneer makes the best head units.

+1 i agree pioneer makes some damn good units,
and since you have an ipod get a head unit with an input for your ipod, then you wont have to go through an FM signal.

While I like Pioneer stuff okay well all but the low end ones. The low end ones to me just sounded muddy all of the ones I've heard have anyway. Once you step up to the mid grade they seemed decent. Well, while I like them I disagree I don't think they make the best H/U's. IMO Alpine or Eclipse are the only two companys to even consider if you want one of the best H/U's out there. I'm partial to Alpine and have owned 2 of them but Eclipse stuff is very nice also and comparable. I have a higher end Alpine in my truck thats a few years old of course I'm running a seperate amp so the H/U's internal amp is no longer in use. I ran it off the internal amp for a while though.
