rust on the door
Bondo, my friend, bondo...
Fixing up that little piece that goes around the wheel, next to the door. That spot is ideal for dirt and water to gather and do their nasty work. While removing all the rusted metal there, I must have opened up about 4-5 inches of where the fender prettu much rusted through.
I had to apply bondo in layers, building it up to cover the hole. Bondo is somewhat fluid and wants to 'run off', I was 'helping' it with a heat gun (and its cold outside so its setting time is longer). In the end, I had that whole hollow area in the fender pretty much filled up with the stuff.
The paint's drying now. If it does not look too embarassing to show
, I'll post a pic.
Good luck!

ya right about in the middle of my driver door all the way on the boyyom about 7' long and 2' high thinkin of fixin it dont know yet.probly wait to hit somthing so when i buy paint it will b worth it.if ya cant dodge it..........
Have the door re-skined. I'm getting my tailgate re-skinned soon. Getting it done at my school, in the body shop.
Or, if the rust isn't completely through it, use some rust inhibitor, and fiberglass filler. It will stop the rust, and the fiberglass won't break apart like bondo will.

I have a nice patch of rust starting on my passeneger door. I'll probably get it fixed over the summer. I figure its gonna cost the same pretty much no matter the size (within reason). If you buy a door skin like mentioned above... gonna cost the same. If you buy bondo, how often do you use an entire thing of bondo? your gonna have left over so... again costs the same. In my case I could probably get away with a touch up bottle worth of paint. I was thinking about fixing it myself and have that spray on bedliner coat up the door's a bit like you see others on here.
I have it on both doors, mostly on the passenger side. I think its a mess, but I am going to try to do a simple fix.
Using the spray on rust converter, then sanding and painting it to prevent it from rusting more. Then applying some of that spray on liner stuff on the inside of the door, then getting the ABS Stampede Black rocker panel covers (the black ones are paintable, but I am going to keep it black).
Figuring it will all run under $200 for it.
You can get lower half door skins, but I am not up for that challenge.

bondo is not a fix for rust or rot as it is not water proof. any rot holes should be fixed by cutting out the rot and welding in new metal. then apply bond ,sand, primer and paint.
