temp sensor is on the very front of the intake manifold, passenger side, down low. check your electrical connector to it. unplug/replug. if its not the electrical plug, then the sensor might be damaged and need replacement. its a little hard to get to but not too bad expensive.

edit... congrats on plenum repair...

I have a similar problem I think.

I used a new 180 thermostat, and a new CTS sensor. Triple checked connection.

My temperature reads really low. It was kinda chilly, but in the pics thats the new temp, seems too low.

It was broken When I took the connector off the top of the sensor came out too. I did a Intake repair/tune-up/timing chain deal and I saw Silvers Intake with all those new sensors on it, and I figured they are cheap so why not? Only thing is, I got it from Autozone, so I think its faulty, going to check it today.

Still in "safe range", but it seems like something is "wrong".

Check your coolant level. It may be low.

I am just preemptive in everything I do on the truck. With 80K miles, I figured it didn't hurt to put all new sensors on while I was already messing with the intake swap. In fact, when I did my plenum fix, here is everything I ended up replacing in addition to the intake itself and associated gaskets, just as preventative maintenance:

-upper radiator hose
-lower radiator hose
-water pump bypass hose
-thermostat
-thermostat housing
-coolant temp sensor
-air temp sensor
-plugs
-wires
-cap
-rotor
-valve cover gaskets
-valve cover baffles
-serpentine belt
-PCV
-PCV vacuum hose
-injector o-rings
-stand-alone breather
-air filter

I got most of that, re-used PCV valve hose and still have stock valve covers and gaskets. I also like to change as much as possible, but if you and other weren't doing the same or similar things to your trucks, I may never have done half the work. My only problem was the bad water pump, but might as well replace everything else that you can. My biggest regret is not changing the oil pump, that would have not cost much and I replaced the rear seal, so I had it off.

I got alot of help here, it was very valuable, better than having a calling my mechanic buddy.

____ Coolant level may be a problem, and honestly I am a little nieve on how to check the level. If all I have to do is make sure the overflow has water in it then yes it does, if there is another way than I would like to know. I burped it, and I guess I will add more water.

Open your radiator cap. If you can see the top of the cores, you're low on coolant. The overflow bottle is marked for Min and Max levels. Check that as well.
