quick vid of my v10 ram plowing some very heavy snow. we got about 6 inches then it turned to rain and made it nice and heavy, here is the v10 plowing the back lot of a doctors office.

Wow what a great lot to plow. No light poles or medians or shopping cart holders. Looks like barely, if any, areas that need to be backdragged. I'm sure the front is more complicated. If not you got lucky on that I would love to get a lot like that.

 

This snow stuff is alien to me, I'm from Florida (even though I was born in Iowa, moved when I was an infant) and now I reside in West Virginia, so I wonder how much does snow plowing pay? I mean do you get paid hourly or by lot, similiar to mowing a yard? Looks like a fun job, if you have the right DODGE for it! lol.

 

thanks guys it is an easy lot to plow, and we have a contract so we get paid the same amount every month no matter how much it snows. but you could price it per push yes.

 

I work for a company. The company gets paid per hour plowing. He has a rate that he gets per hour plowing and a rate that he gets that goes by how much salt he has to drop. I get $13/hour for plowing. Definitely the best job i've ever had. It's pretty much the biggest plowing company in the city, they do concrete work in the summer. I know the owner and he has said before that with the contracts he has, one big snowfall is enough to break even on the plowing side. Then anything more than that is profit.

 

you use his truck??? we plow anohter commecial place that pays by the hour its 70per hour per truck.

 

Yea I use his truck. He has a fleet of about 20 pick ups. 3 skid steers. 2 front end loaders. And 4 dump trucks. Only one of the pick ups is a dodge, a 2nd gen dually diesel dump. $70 per truck sounds nice. Looks like when I get outta college i should invest in a truck to plow with.

 

yeah there is great money in it if it snows and you get the right contracts. i know a few guys who only do snow removal, they make so much in the winter they take the whole summer off and just vacation.

 

this year wasn't bad up here for snow/ice.

I would like more snow and less ice.

Right now its getting warmer out there and getting soggy. After the weather today you could take your plow off for the season, spring is around the corner.

 

i know what you mean we got alot of ice in ct, which makes it scarry to plow some driveways with decient hills, you just slide down em.
