Default part in tranny pan???

ok guys i think i might be in trouble here...went to change the tranny fluid cause i couldnt get the tranny to shift out of first gear sometimes and i found this part in the pan...now the other pictures are of the levers for the bands and i am sure it is from the lever that i can move with my fingers...my question is i think i need to take the valve body off to get this part back in there...now does the valve body just come down after i take out the bolts without anything popping out or are there a lot of things connected to it???....and for that piece to fall out there is a reason so could that band be busted or do i even know what i am talking about here???....truck ran fine just wouldnt shift out of first once out of ten or fifteen times!!!!

Valve body comes out after you take the bolts out and then there is a lever that you have to release on the top of the body. The manual has photos and step by step instructions.

yeah i finally got the valve body off and found where the part came from....it was between the back band adjustment head and the band...seems the band just came loose and the part fell out so i am going to readjust the bands again and see what happens, if it does it again then there is a problem with my bands i guess...i dnt know!...all i know is that it seemed pretty loose where the old adjustment was so we will see how it goes this time!!!!!

That happened to me and was the begin of my transmission problems. It's the anchor that goes inbetween the front band and front band adjuster as it seems like you found out.

When mine fell out I had it stuck back in there and it seemed to fix it for about 2 thousand miles. It never was exactly right but worked atleast. I was hoping it would hold up a while but it lasted about 2k miles then started really acting up. I think it burnt up the band when it was out but Idk for sure I just got tired of messing with it so had a APS transmission put in.

When that piece fell out Wanye told me if it does it usually it will keep doing it every month or so and that he'd just go ahead and get a tranny. Other shops seemed to tell me similar things about how they didn't think it would last and they were right in my case. Another guy on Pavementsucks.com had this same issue before I did and fixxed it and was also having problems with it after fixxing it. I think it's something you can do until you get another transmission or something worked out but in my experience it wasn't permanent fix. Maybe it will work out better for you though. I just haven't heard anyone that has had this fall out and not had more serious problems shortly after. I'd start getting prepared for a new transmission.

well hometheatreman....i took apart the tranny and got it back together and now it wont shift for sure...i adjusted the band by taking the locknut loose and tightened the screw dwon to 72.in. lbs and backed out 2 and seven eighths out for the bands, but now it wont shift hardly at all...how much did you spend at aps and what kind of warranty did you get with them????...i was going to try to rebuild it myself but i am a little worried to try that...lol
