Default shorty header question

I was looking on Summit and noticed they had thier brand of shorty 16 ga painted for 161.00 shipping and all. Question is... Does anyone on here have any experiences with these headers ie., ease of installation, fit, durability etc... Seems like a really good deal and seemed like equal quality to others I found on the site.

I have no 1st hand experience with that set but in general, you get what you pay for. I've bought cheap headers before and actually lost power. I had some shorties and went Long Tube.

There's really a lot of enginering in headers. The Gibson sets aren't just bending you over a barrel. They would be a ton better than something you find under $200.Not saying you have to go Gibson but maybe invest in a middle rung header. And painted headers will rust very quickly.

I was wondering about those headers, but having them stripped and then ceramic coated at a seperate shop.

Summit headers are great. Most Summit products are actually made by other performance companies and sold under the Summit name.

Aren't the summit headers supposed to be made by Pacesetter? Either way, I'd say you get what you pay for on those. If you care at all about the looks, don't get the painted ones. I'd say save your money and get some nicely coated ones. Gibson, Edelbrock, or the higher end Pacesetters should be a good choice.

Don't put cheap *** junk parts on your truck. Just leave the stock exhaust manifold on there and enjoy not having leaks.

Sorry to get on my soap box again, but my experience with summit brand/pace****ter headers is bad. The first set had bad flange weld. The second set had a tube to flange weld leak. After several gasket changes on each set thinking it was the gasket seal causing the leaks. By the time I pulled the second set off they would not refund the money.
I spent around 70 dollars to surface the stock manifolds, two days of cusing to get the stud out that I had to cut off to put the headers on and I'm back where I started with manifolds and less cash..........

Is there anything other than sound and maybe 5 HP that Headers should be considered for? I don't see, personally, what justifies spending almost 400 dollars, and then some for installation, for them.
