is a 50mm tb worth it
is a 50mm tb worth it?why 50mm why not 52 -53mm?is the change drastic?what else do you need?i got flow master cat back,180ts,3923's,and plenum mod(which i think was a waste of time, just good frame of mind that air flows better).also going to elec fan; crankfan so stupid.electric fans are about 200-300$ i would think you would get as much power out of a 50mm tb as to taking off the cluchfan
Someone correct me if I'm mistaken on the TB size explanation here, but if you try to cram too much air into the engine, it'll hurt you more than help. Thats why if you are doing more major upgrades later, or already have, the Fastman recommends a bigger TB.
Kind of like a high wind in your face. When the air moves to fast, its harder to breathe, even though, technically, there is more of it moving by your nostrils/mouth.
Thats the way it was explained to me by a friend, anyway.

The Fastman 50mm Throttle Body is a great upgrade for your 318. I found it made my truck much more responsive and smoother and offered a "seat of the pants" improvement in power.
I highly recommend them and this upgrade.

I GOT A 360 WHAT IS WORTH MORE WOULD I GET MORE POWER BY CHANGEING TO AN E.FAN OR PUTING ON A 50MM TB.ALSO WHAT ABOUT A FLEX FAN I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THEM BUT FROM WHAT I HERE THEY SOUND GOOD.
well pipeking other people on this site say that if you have a 318 to get a 50mm tb and if you got a 360 then to get a 52mm tb and ive heard that everyone that has a new tb with their 318 or 360 has loved them and sound like it was a very good investment. but also theres a guy on here that i dont remember his name that got the dual elec. fans and said they gave him alot of lost power and really liked that mod too. so either way you go you'll be happy i think.

would anybody agree that efans would give the same power as a bigger tb. just for the fact that your fan isnt running off the crank seams extream.but i would like to know about a flex fan anybody got that.
It's about flow, velocity, and the tune. In any internal combustion engine, all of the energy is contained within the fuel. The more fuel you canefficientlyburn (@ 12.8:1 afr)on each compression stroke, the more power you will have. Period. If you have a stock set up (kegger, stock heads, stock cam, stock y pipe), the most you 'should' notice from a larger throttle body bore is increased throttle response. You let more air in more quickly. This rapidly decreases vacuum whithin the manifold which, in turn releases top end pressure and makes the pcm (see map sensor) shoot more fuel through the injectors. The problem is, when you do have a stock setup, a larger than stock tb willflood the plenum with air causing turbulence. Any combination of ported or semi-ported heads, bigger valves, longer duration cam, higher compression, straight manifold, etc. can be used to compensate for this turbulence, but bottom line is, IMO, until you need it, spend your money elsewhere.
