Default A little drippage

I noticed a few small spots on the driveway today...think I'm getting a little leakage around the oil pan. This may be due to my recent switch to synthetic oil, but who knows... Guess I'll be replacing the oil pan gasket soon...[:@]

Hmmm. I have left some Marvel fluid in my oil for an awhile, hoping to find a leak, but nothing so far. Thinking of dropping in my 5 qt container of SuperTech high mileage to see if that will find anything. Did you do any pre-treatment kind of fluid before switching?

No, I didn't use anything. I read over on the Amsoil website that a pre-switch flush is not necessary unless you just want to do it. The synthetic oil will do the same thing, only slower over a longer period of time. I also used the Valvoline High Mileage Synthetic in a 10W30 weight. I got under the truck and looked today...the leakage appears to be around the oil pan gasket, so it isn't really that big of a deal. The engine must be really clean, though, because I just looked at the dipstick the other day and the oil still looks brand new, after about a month of running it. I'll check/clean the pan when I drop it.

I would torque the oil pan bolts a small amount before I did anything else.

Probably not a bad idea...lol. I think it has the reusable type rubber gasket on it...

Probably should have that looked at in the near future, I doubt it sprays out unless you have a plugged up engine breather and thats the only place the excessive pressure can vent out, through the rear main seal
