You have to physically add ATF to the transfer case, DO NOT USE GEAR OIL OF ANY SORT ONLY ATF
The tranny and transfer case aresealed off from each other
I use ATF +4 in my transfer case just because thats what I put in my tranny.......so it makes like a little easier not having 2 different kinds of ATF on stock

yes it takes atf+4. about 1 qt.
tip... remove the FILL plug first to make sure it will come off. then (and only then) remove the drain plug. both are 10MM hex NOT a 3/8 which will strip it out !!!!
