Default IAT Location Picture

Ok....I've read plenty of post of the location of the IAT but I still can't find it...driving me nuts cause I have a IAT sensor chip I want to install and the ends are already bullet up for connection.

Does anyone have a picture with a big arrow that says: "It is right here you @*#&$%!" I would forever greatful! Even better if it for 1998 Dodge Ram!

THanks!

BTW...side note...anyone got pictures of the IAT location switch I've read about? Noticed a difference?

Good question...did I get the IAT confused with the IAC?

IAT is diesel only isn't it? and then IAC is gas, right?

If IAC is gas then yes I meant the IAC.

What kind of sensor chip could you be installing on the IAC?

There is an IAT, and it is on the front of the intake manifold. Here's a picture.

Now I know what TIMIDONE is talking about. He has one of those inline resistor chips that tries to fool the computer into thinking the air in the intake is cooler than it actually is. These are hyped up as a horsepower improvement mod. Based on all that I have heard the computer will in time learn around this and return back to normal.

An actual mod that is more efficient is the one where the IAT is relocated into the air duct before the air enters the throttle body. It is also free, except for a couple feet of wire and about 15 minutes of time.

Then you run a flexible line to a mini hood scoop. You tell everyone "Yeah, its an IAT scoop", and they look at you in amazement.

thunter has caught me read handed! I have one of those thing but in my defence I bought it before I came across this site! Oh well...I read above moving the sensor but I wasn't 100% sure how this was done...plug the current sensor then make a 1/2" hole in the duct after the filter before the manifold, right?

Yes you would remove the sensor from it's current location and plug the hole in the manifold. Then drill a hole in your air duct somewhere in the air intake duct. Some people mention using a nut inside the duct and screw the sensor into it to make it tight.

This would cause the engine to think the air in the intake is cooler than it actually is and I believe it causes the engine to run richer thereby providing more power. I've not done the mod myself, but have heard of others that have.
