Easy way...at least when I did mine.
Use bailing wire...not rope for those of you farmer boys.
Double wrap thru springs and tie off. Loosen shock mount lower and tower. jack truck up by axle. Blockframe or use jack stands on frame. Lower jack(s). Springs will remain compressed and you can work much easier with inches of play.

alright. thanks alot guys, i never thought of tieng the spring off. thanks lizard hunt. just get banding the coils, a local shop does it for 10 bucks a spring. i need the slightest bit to which sucks, the bottom coil touches the spring seat so its not a whole lot of compression that i need. ill attempt it today again. whats this about a track bar? i dont want to get a new one till i do my lift[&:]
Since you already have them out. Stop by autozone, advance or whatever in your area that loans tools and get the spring compessor if you need to and it's free.
Did you put the spacer in first or try to put them in together or both? Do not recall from original post.
Wouldn't worry about the track bar issue unless you go higher.
