I guess I'm the lucky one so far.. My 97 is my DD, to work and back..14 miles.... I usually dont go to far on the weekends.. maybe just alittle running around... so for me to fill up every two weeks is unusual.. I can usually stretch a full tank about a month.. gas here.. ( Roanoke Va..) 87 is about 3.15.. highest I've seen it here in who knows how long..so... did the Fastman and the Gibsons this past weekend.. the plenum and lifters and RR's in two weeks..I guess I'mgonna keep building till I start paying around 80 a week or so...we'll see.. I love my truck too..

i need a pu truck. for towing my trailer and landscaping etc. but its getting to the point were im actually concerned about what im going to do to afford gas. i never worried about gas and i always just drove were ever when ever but its not looking good. if gas hits $3.50-$4.00 im screwed. i use the wifes minivan whenever possible but it doesnt help muchas i needto get to work everday. i cant afford another vehicle with insurance and repairs it wouldnt make sense to have a truck a beater and the wifes van. the economy sucks. its now getting to the point were ya dont get paid enough to even afford gas. gorceries are way up too.

Just saw a video on yahoo where a guy was getting practically double his mileage with a simple electronic device.

Idea was engineer a device that turns off half of your engines fuel injectors at speeds over 35 MPH for practically double mileage if not something close to that.

If one doesn't have electrical engineering experience, a person could easily cut some wires on 4 injectors and install a switch that would allow a driver to flip off 1/2 the injectors on the vehicle for better mileage.

That could save some money at the pump...

$120 a week tops, that is for all vehicles. I try to fill my dodge every other week (not a dd).

My neighbor got a bio-diesel kit, its some chemical that you add to filtered used cooking oil. It works in his beater f250, but I am skeptical. I am thinking about buying a deisel just to try it out.
Lye (Sodium Hyrdoxide) and methanol are used in a certain proportion to form biodiesel. Or if a person filters vege oil, a diesel engine can run on straight oil if the oil is preheated enough to the point where it flows through lines and injectors efficiently.

To make bio diesel, first the oil is filtered from contaminants. Next, since the Vege oil has glycerenin it, which will gum eventually if left alone, thus the oil is processed. Through heating and mixing in the lye and methanol proportionally, one can seperate the glyceren in vege oil to produce a clean bio diesel. Then one can further distill the glyceren in order to capture the methanal that's trapped inside the glyceren. The methanol can now be reused for making more bio fuel and the glyceren is a commodity that can be sold as pure commercial grade glyceren. Or if you really got into it, you could possibly have some fun making nitro glyceren, or what some call C4 plastic explosives. Fun idea in the head, but don't ask me how to do such things. That's illegal and most importantly who's going to be willing to buy that at the price that stuff goes for these days... Sheesh!

i spend 130 a week in gas. this is a Company bill so there forking the money on it. On my Truck i spend 20 every 2 weeks. drive it on weekends and during the week only if i have to. I asked my Boss the other day how in the heck were going to do this. We have 8 Vehicles all of them are doing about 130 a week. That is 1040 dollars. I have also been reading and listening to some Radio shows on XM about this. The problem that everyone is saying is that all of the refineries are at 90 percent capacity right now. With no room for error. We need more refineries. Now my only problem with this is. OK so why does the oil companies have to get rich for? I dont care if there are a 200 percent capacity. There is no reason for Gas/diesel to be as expensive as it is.

I also heard the problem with the oil in Texas and such is that it is Dirty and our refineries we have will not work for this. Why no one is building new refiners then i have no idea. if there making so dang much cash. O yea that is right because then they cant use the were at 90 percent capacity right now. What ever. I am going to buy a motorcycle again.

have you changed your driving habits? Slowed down from 65+ MPH back to 55 - 60?

My customers pay for my gas!
