Yes, gas is going to be $4.00 soon then $5.00 then $10.00. You all get the idea.

I put on 220-240 miles a week on my truck. Gas is $3.26 (the lowest I have seen in my area). Normal fill-ups around $60-65.

Ican afford to spend up to $80 a week in gas, but its not looking good in the long run.

So, what is your cut off point?

I know there are other solutions, such as get a 4cyl beater, or go diesel (thats not even economical at all now with diesel at $4.25).

I know that soon I will have an extra $50 a week in freed up cash, but I can't put it all in to my tank either.

My cut off is when I have to put more than $80 in to my tank, then I will have to reconsider what I am going to do.

If I wait too long, how hard will it be to tell the 2nd gen gas hog at a time of a gas price crisis?

On the flip side, the truck is paid off, so selling it and taking on a car payment would put me back in to the same situation. Spending less on gas but over all the same monthly in total expenses.

I hope they are able to do something with the damn oil companies price gouging.

Thanks for listening tome rant.

Gas isn't going to get better until the government steps in and regulates it. Our power water and natural gas are all regulated so why not gas? Everyone keeps going on about how the free market will fix it and how it's all supply and demand. Idiots,of course there is going to be higher demand and less supply when the oil compaines make less of it. Gas affects our economy so much that it should be regulated. They tell the oil companies they can only make a certain percentage of what they sell and leave it at that. I've already stopped driving the truck. I would be spending close to 100 a week in gas. I wonder what else I could do with that money. Oh thats right buy other **** wich in turn would help turn the economy around. grrrrr

that azzhole in your avatar isone of thereasons (among many) for this big debacle. Our state mentioned they were going to do some type of gas tas relief, but then where is the money lost from doing that coming from? My property tax, sales tax or income tax?

I am standing at $80 a week, I am sure that will come quicker than later and I will be saying $90 a week.

$120 a week tops, that is for all vehicles. I try to fill my dodge every other week (not a dd).

My neighbor got a bio-diesel kit, its some chemical that you add to filtered used cooking oil. It works in his beater f250, but I am skeptical. I am thinking about buying a deisel just to try it out.

My father in law did this with his two beater Diesel Jetta's and his 99 F-250 (7.3). His friend gets theoil/grease from local resturants, screens it then does something else to it. He can't run it in the winter, it gets too thick or goes solid again. he can run a mixture of it with the diesel to keep it from getting too thick. his friend runs it in his rabbit year round. he has some odd little heater plate thing under it to keep it from going thick, but he also has no back seats either to hold the huge plastic tank.

I hope not to get to that point... I just wish gas was reasonable... say... $2.00 a gal.

I guess it all depends on how much you need your truck?
I travel a lot and I need my truck to carry cargo and supplies for my work.
Gas in Canada is already $4.50 gal it is by far my largest expense. I still make a profit this way now but gas price directly affects my take home pay. It's not uncommon for me to spend $1500 a month on gas.
As much as I love my Ram I'm at the point where buying a used Caravan (ugh!) makes financial sense.

Dont expect gas prices to decrease any time soon any there definitely won't be any price protection with George W and his buddies calling the shots.

I have friends in the oil Industry and they are actually concerned oil prices will drop drastically if the Democrats form the next US government. According to them there are a quite a few (lets call them shady) oil barons that have pulled their oil off the market because they don't want to dealor are afraid of the current US administration. Less supply drives up the price. Heck if a bird craps on the oil rig and someone has to stop to clean it up that's a good enough reason to hike it a couple cents.
I don't know how accurate the above is but it was echoed by quite a few guys I know in the Alberta oil patch.

I bought a commuter car. I only drive the truck on bad weather days and wheeling. I had a hard time justifying the car payment and additional insurance. The truck is paid off and tags and insurance is pretty low. I'm not gonna get rid of her but I can't afford to keep driving her dailyand the maintenance at 180,000 miles.

I got an 07Yaris forthe commute 1.5yrs ago. With gas here at 1.10L (4.18 per US gal/4.99Imp gall) I figure it will hit 5-6 gal (US/Imp) for regular and probably be close to 7per for 94 oct for the Indy by the time summer hits. Back in 05 110 oct race fuel was at $10per gallon. Probably be at 15-20per gallon this year I bet. Going to the track will probably now cost 200 cause of the fuel costs.(200mile min round trip)
