Default trans problems

ive been haven problems with my trans since i bought the truck. the symptoms are shifting to soon sometimes hesitating to shift like its not sure if it should stay in the gear a lil longer or shift into the next gear and at highway speeds if im goin up a slight hill it will want to down shift unless im goin like 45 or so or just let off the gas a lil so it will lose speed but not downshift. well i finally took it to a shop and the guy took it for a drive and right off the bat he said it feels underpowered like maybe the cat is partially clogged and then started to drive it lightly then kinda hard to see what all its doin and it did pretty much everything that i just said so we got back to the shop and he checked all the cables and scanned the comp with nothing. he said the oil looks clean and smells clean. i changed thefilter in it about 10 k ago to see if it helped and nothin changed but no shavings or parts in the pan. now can the engine being underpowered by a bad cat or a vac leak cause all this, i changed the throttle body gasket cuz it seemed to leak now it doesnt but i still want to clean the aic, what do yall think?

thanks

Sounds to me like your pump is going bad. Your comment about it leaking down when it sets sounds like the pump is going south. As for the cat I replaced mine with a free flow from summit not a hard fix and worth it if you have over 80 thousand on it anyway.

Most likely rebuild if the pump is going it has probably damaged the rest. I do not know of anything else that would cause it not to go into gear untill it warms up like you said earlier. You can usally get your cat tested for blockage at a muffler shop.

Sounds like a rebuild. $2000-3000 depending on what you do (towing/4x4/ or Daily Driver).

I had the early shifting, the slipping feeling, noise when going in to reverse or shifting when cold, and no TC lockup.
from the overheating I burned up my clutches and the particles clogged both my coolers. had them bypassed with a new plate style cooler.
best of luck.
