Default Have a tint ? Help Needed.

I had my rear side windows on my truck tinted a little over a week ago. They had the factory tint which is dipped glass or whatever. It's supposed to be around 18%. They put 5% tint over this and it pretty much blacked out the windows. You can't see in at all it doesn't matter what angle you are at. I just did the rear sides as I wanted to see if I liked it. Well, I did so I took it today to get the rear sliding window tinted with 5% over the factory tint to match. Well, it seems a lot lighter. Looking in I can see through fine which kind of made me not like it. I assumed it would be a little lighter as the windshield lets in so much light but still it seems not much darker than it was with just the factory tint. Anyways if you look out of it it also seems a lot lighter than the sides. I asked them about it and he told me it was the same tint that it just is lighter looking because it's a bigger window. Well, I took it out tonight and drove it and can see fine out of the back window. I remember having 5% before and it being a pita to see out of. If I look out the rear side windows at a hill I was looking at I couldn't even see anything but if I looked out the rear I could see the outline of the hill. This can't be the same tint % but they told me it was. Just seems way lighter inside and out. Did I get ripped off and get something lighter put on there or would 5% really be that much lighter being it's a bigger window? I'd like to know so I can call and complain if it's not the same. I just kind of have a feeling it's not 5% but then again what do I know. I just don't see how looking out the side windows can be soo much darker. And if you open the doors to look in the lights looked dimmed and yellow through the side windows but through the rear just looks bright as day and you can see in fine.Basically I want to know should I call and complain or is this normal? As much as I paid for this I want the tint I paid for.

I think it's darker than 35% as thats what I have on the front but not sure. It just doesn't seem as dark as the 5% the same shop put on a week earlier on the sides. I've tried tinting myself several times and it's never turned out that great.

the police have a meter that tells them the % of tint i'm sure that the tint place should have one or something similar. ask if so have them to test the wimdow with you there ,have them do the sides too . if the #"s match you knot that they are telling the truth

It maybe the pros MUST stay within the law and gave you the darkest LEGAL tint. Do it yourself & you can go pitch black. But you really need to see something out of the back.

This is what I'm starting to think might be the case as I've read on several sites people saying this happens with some vehicles. It looked about as dark before but I never really checked and chalked up being able to see through it easily to the windshield letting in soo much light. I just couldn't believe how much easier it was to see out of at night than the side windows were. Even easier than I remember my old truck with 5% being and it had no factory tint. That however was a while ago so I don't remember the best.

I was told I can have as dark as I want on the rear since it's a truck. Idk if thats true thats just what I was told. This shop will do as dark as I want for me anyway on any window they just told me they aren't liable if I get a ticket so he wouldn't recommend 5% up front too. They are the same place that did the sides a week earlier.

I know my factory rear slider is pretty dark... but if yours wasnt as dark.. as sides...it makes sence it wouldnt be as dark after tinting..
But I dont like my rear window real dark.. I like seeing the trees before I hit them.

I'm thinking maybe it's like I was told on another forum and just the back was tinted lighter from the factory but I don't know. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about you can see how much lighter the rear slider looks from the inside. It's a crappy picture as it's from my phone and you can see a reflection of my shirt in the side window but you can still clearly see the difference.

Does that look like 5%? It's supposed to be 5% on both windows.

I went out and looked at it today and if you open the slider part of the window so it's basically 2 layers of glass with 2 layers of tint it was really dark on each side which Is exactly how I wanted it yet while dark I could still see out. I'm wondering if maybe 2 layers is the thing for me. How quickly do I need to have it done if I'm going to have another layer put on.
