Default 2wd Rear End Locker?

Hi there,

I was thinking about gettinga rear end locker for my pickup truck.

I know they have the full time ones, limited slip ones, and the ones that you can control from your dash.

I think I am most interested in the limited slip or the dash controlled ones. I heard though that the clutch ones will wear out over time, but does anyone know how long they last?

Also, what do you guys think about the ones you control from the dash? I know they are more expensive, but is that worth it? There are electric ones and vacume ones right?

Thanks alot.

I can't see a full locker ever benefitting a 2wd. most 4 wheelers that also drive on the street don't even want it.

If you want an non-clutch LSD get a detroit trutrac. Auburn make a LSD that is a clutch but a pretty HD one that will take quite a while to wear out.

Well is it worth buying the less expensive clutch and spring LSD or get the Dana LSD without all that stuff? How long do those clutches last in them? Would it be more cost effective to buy the Dana that is like $300 more, or go with the clutch one and just see how long it lasts me?

My truck orginally had a factory LSD and it broke up on me. If you want quality that's going to last you'll have to pay for it.

I think the cheapest limited slip they make that anybody here has said is any good is a powertrax (sp?). It's a pretty simple one that can be installed by yourself if you have a little knowledge of the read diff.
