Best Headliner Solution
My headliner is sagging, just wondering if anyone on here has or had a good solution specific to our trucks. I've noticed two kits from JCW that seem alright, just that though; they're alright looking.
Just so happens Im working on that right now.I bought a kit off ebay(liner material and instructions).Glue is sold seperately.Anyways,I took the older material off,and am in the process of scraping the old foam backing off which is a pain in the ***.I got about 60% off and hopefully will have it replaced by the weekend. This is where i got mine from.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-01...spagenameZWDVW
Haha, good timing. Got any pics? And that kit was quality? I wonder what kind of adhesive to go with. I dealt with Florida humidity so long that it didn't matter what kind of adhesive, it was going to sag inevitably. But they make new adhesives almost weekly, so I'm sure one of them works well. I use to know of one auto-restorers used, but that name has long since left my mind.
Heres what I was told,"I recommend any high heat rated spray adhesive. One example is 3m08090 or 3m90 Super Trim Adhesive. Do not use Trim Adhesive or General Purpose adhesive(3m77) this will not work."
Once I get it done I'll post some pics if I can figure out how post them.I just gotta get the rest of the foam off.Its stuck to a thin fiberglass shell that comes out of the truck.Needs to be clean for the adhesive to stick.

So the foam acts as an insulator? I think I have a few ideas what to use as an insulator anyway, a little dynomat and some of this red stuff with little pvc pellets home depot had. Laid it down under the carpet in my Nova and worked well because it shield x amount of heat and is very malleable.
The cloth is glued to the foam.So its backing material.I guess its an insulator too.Above the fiberglass there is just the roof. The reason the liner comes off is because its not folded over glued to the back. You need to leave like a 2" overlap to make it stay.
I was hoping to come across a cheap ABS plastic molding to just stick up there without any cloth. Might be kinda hot though. But hey, just keep us (me, lol) up to date cause I'll be doing this in a month and a half or so, maybe the time I do my door speakers, heater core, door lock, passenger switch.

I did mine with this kit 3 yrs. ago and it came out fair.I should have used a little more glue, it came loose in one spot on the back curve.Still much better than the old one.His instructions are very good so follow them closely.I used the side of my hand to smooth it out.Don't useyour fingers, they will leave prints.Need some sort of tool like a soft sponge or a towel rolled up.I think it's one of those things that the more times you do it the better you get.Mine came out OK But, I'm the type that allways thinks I could have done better and when I do it again I will.
Mine was sagging and coming lose at the leading edge. I took it to a shop that specialized in headliners, and I don't think it was more than $100 for it to look better than new. They only had it a day, all new material, and instead of the material just coming to the front edge they wrapped it up and over. Some things I'd rather leave to the pro's (although I know sometimes money is an issue). I've tried the spray adhesive route before, andmade it look almost worse than when I started.
