That truck seems to need a lot of work. Bed's rusty, brake lines were all replaced, exhaust is loose, engine backfires, engine lacks power, fuel pump may need to be replaced... Who knows what else may need work on that thing? I'd be shopping around a little bit more unless that truck has some sentimental value or willing to invest some time in restoring that thing. Have you checked craigslist? I've seen quite a few Dodge Diesels in excellent shape for under 5 grand. Just put a cap on how much your willing to spend and then just start looking in nearby areas. Your bound to find something.

very true. I will keep an eye out but the market here for trucks seems a bit high price wise. I actually went to TX to get my F350 due to price and what I was looking for.
To find a $5k or lesser truck here its going to have +200k easy and unless I knew the owner well I don't think im going to want to do that. The big reason this truck caught my eye initially was the (price obviously) and the 75k miles.
If I knew the engine was something simple id jump into the project in a second. The bed I can deal with whether I replace it or cut out the floor and reweld new metal in. Even as it is it's usable just need great looking. Plus it would have helped if the owner cleaned the sand and trash out of the bed...knowing I was coming to look at it. But yes it may be more work then its worth.

Today in town I just saw a 3/4 ton V10 4x4 1995 Dodge Ram. Seller tag says $4000. Didn't get the mileage but the trucks only problem that I saw was that the paint wasn't perfect. Other then that, the body was straight, bumpers were original and in good shape and the interior was nice. Truck started up no problem, and it sounded strong. The guy who was selling the truck started it up for me, reved the engine a bit, and when asked about the tranny he said it had never been worked on and so it's still original and probably not half bad. Anyways, if your looking for a V10 out of california, I can hook you up with some pics and the phone number for the guy if you want to inquire.
