Default tranny issues

well....i think my tranny finally took a crap after 109k miles.
i kinda figured this would happen from all the stories ive heard about weak dodge trannys.im actually surprised it lasted this long.
when i was towing my 4wheeler,(the tranny was in drive at a stop sign)when i tried to take off,it was like it was in neutral.also it wont go into OD.the OD dash light will come on and pushing the OD button on the gear selector has no effect on it.
i guess my options are...get a used one for 450 or so from a salvage yard, rebuild mine for 1k.i can drop it myself and take it somewhere to save on cost.but i know nothing about auto trannys.
i really dont have a question here...just wanted to see some opinions from you guys.
thanks

Default RE: tranny issues

Mine did basically the same thing back in December, I went with a rebuilt one for $1600 with the converter, and replaced it myself. I would be afraid of a salvage yard one, just because of fearing that it might go out at anytime, I had that experience with a LeBaron once. The rebuilt route was nice because I didn't want much down time without the Ram, the GTO hates snow !!!
