SUM B#@CH !!!!! Need to remove distributer
Hey Gene...The hex head on the drivers side is rounding. Can't get a phillips in that one yet. I will try to chip out the crud and try again.
The passanger side I only tried with the phillips but not the socket.
I will try again this weekend if not sooner. Just finally got the broken spark plug out of cylinder 4 Monday...damn Maine salted roads cause all sorts of rust crap.

Main thing is to index the distributor with a Sharpie or some other marking instrument. Use a mechanics mirror to line everything back up per your indexing marks. +/- 1/4 " will throw you way out on fuel sync and your truck will run like **** if you're are outside of +/- 8*. To give you an idea- if the spindle that goes into the back of the block is ~1.5"- then your play of +/- 8* is roughly 1/10 of an inch in either direction.
I'll probably give that a shot Hometheaterman...I will start a new post also. I didn't mean to hijack this one.
Good Luck Tarner...I will post back on this thread if I pull the distributer before you get a chance too.

I won't be digging into it until this weekend due to stuff with kids...daughter has a play tonight and tomorrow night.
I will let you know if I come up with anything...

The ram distributor is definetly a PITA. Yesterday I pulled the motor out of my 5.0 and the distributor is right there in the front, with a very easy to get at bolt. I can't stand cars/trucks with rear distributors.

The more we can help each other the better.
