Default Installing New CD Player

As the title says, I'm installing a new CD player in my truck. It is a Pioneer DEH-2000MP and I bought the wiring harness from Crutchfield. I wired everything up, took the old stereo out, and WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT, I can't find the damn ground wire. There are the two factory harnesses with all the green, white, blue, etc. wires. Then there is the little wire (blue and black)with a connector on it that is grounded to the back of the factory stereo that says "AMP" on the connector (I assume that is for the Infinity amp). And finally, the antenna plug.

I can figure out a way to clip the blue and black wire and ground it to the back of the new cd player but I can't find the braided ground wire that I have found in every other vehicle I've installed a cd player in. Is the ground somewhere else, meaning that I don't need to use the new cd player's ground wire?

It is the truck in my sig and it has the Infinity system in it. Thanks for any help.

I dont know if its the right truck but the ground should be the wire seperate from the harness. Its a plastic clip that plugs to the back of the radio.

That is the black and blue wire I'm talking about. It goes away from the main harnesses and attaches to a little clip thing on the back of the factory stereo. I assumed it wasn't the ground for the stereo since it said amp on it.

I'll have to run to the store tomorrow and get some more wire to complete the ground to any part of the chassis though if that is what I have to do. The ground wire on the back of the Pioneer cd player is only about a foot long. Thanks for the help so far.

According to this site there is no ground wire. I have used it in the past and they have always been accurate.

Interesting. Thanks for the diagram. I assume that is for all '98 Ram trucks, including the trucks with the Infinity system in them. If that is the case then I'll probably just tie the ground off and tuck it away somewhere.

Yeah my factory harness didn't have one either. You can usually not hook it up and it will work as long as the antenna is hooked up but it's not a bad idea to ground it to the chassis.

I grounded it to the chassis and everything works fine now. CD, auxillary, radio, etc. all work flawlessly. I even cut the clip off of the blue and black wire and used a screw from the new cd player to ground it to the back of the cd player. Thanks for the info.
