Default I painted my shocks.

I've had Skyjacker shocks on here for around a year and half and they were really starting to rust. My old ones did this too and others told me when I got them to paint them before I put them on but I just put them on anyway. Well after a year and a half the surface rust had gotten bad enough I wanted to do something about it so I took them off and painted them. I used silver which has some sparkles in it. I liked the idea of silver and I had this paint at the house so I didn't want to go buy more. Anyways here are some pictures of the process. I painted them inside of a box and then hung them up by the tie dies and bungee cords to dry as you can see. I have quite a few hours into these things but they turned out way better than I thought. I wanted to replace the blue boots on them but couldn't find them locally for a decnet price and didn't want to pay Summits handling charge which was about as much as they were so I just cleaned mine up. They look a lot better in person to me than they do in the pics. I also cleaned up the bushings so they look pretty nice too. Overall just looks good to me. Here are some pics of them and the truck in general. As you can see I took a blue sharpie and wrote Skyjacker on them so I and others know what brand of shocks they are. Then I clear coated overtop of it so hopefully it will hold up.

As you can see I also painted the lower bolts which I think looks nice. I also ended up doing the bolts that hold the shock tower on but didn't clear coat them.

You can see here where I painted the washer pieces that go on the upper part of the front shocks.

Here is my window tint. The rears are fairly new. It's 5% over the stock tint on the rears and 35% on the front. The front has been tinted for quite a while so it faded some.

Any comments or suggestions guys? What do you all think? I'm actually really happy with the way the shocks turned out. It took a lot of work to get them sanded down to bare metal even with a sander. Then I primered them, then painted them, then clear coated them. I was impressed with them.

I have always loved that color of truck. It is the best blue ever. Your truck looks great.

Looks like your upper shock bushing is over compressed. That thing is like a pancake. The torque on those is not that much.

What should I torque them to? I'm not sure I will be able to use a torque wrench on them as I have to hold the top of the rod with vise grips to keep it from spinning. I took a rachet wrench and just tightened them down until they got tight. Should I loosen them up a little? Thanks.

It's a 3" Skyjacker Lift with coils in the front and a AAL in the back. I used to have some of my mods listed in my signature but I took them out when I put that picture in. Should I put them back or just leave the picture like it is?
